Mouth sores are common side effects of cancer treatments such as chemotherapy and radiation.
They can be hurtful and make you feel uncomfortable, especially when trying to eat, talk, swallow and breathe. To manage mouth sores, focus on soft, bland foods like mashed potatoes, yogurt,
apple sauce and cottage cheese. Try to avoid spicy, acidic and crunchy foods such as chips, crackers, tomato sauce etc. as they can cause burning and irritation. Regular mouth rinses with warm, salty water or solutions prescribed by your healthcare team can also help relieve discomfort and prevent infection.
