Children experience domestic violence, too. They don't have to be physically harmed to be affected by violence in their home. CHILD, Inc.’s Helping Children Heal program serves children ages 4–18 exposed to intimate partner violence, along with their caregivers. Helping children heal is part of helping families heal.

💜 Celebrating 30 Years of Dedication, Compassion & Service 💜

For three decades, Diedra Harper has been an extraordinary part of the CHILD, Inc. family—and her impact reaches far beyond our walls.

On September 30, Diedra, our Director of Domestic Violence Sheltering, Housing, and Case Management Services, celebrated an incredible 30 years with CHILD, Inc. Her career serving and advocating for victims of domestic violence spans 36 years.

Over those years, Diedra has walked alongside countless individuals and families during some of the most difficult moments of their lives. She has offered safety, compassion, guidance, and hope while helping survivors take steps toward brighter futures.

Her impact can also be seen in the generations of professionals she has helped shape. Diedra has mentored many of Delaware’s current victim service professionals and supervised countless student interns beginning their own journeys in the domestic violence services field. Her knowledge and experience have strengthened not only CHILD, Inc., but our entire community.

Those fortunate enough to work alongside Diedra know the dedication she brings to her clients and staff every single day—as well as the expertise, energy, and wonderful sense of humor she shares so generously with colleagues, community partners, and the people we serve.

Thirty years at one organization is more than a milestone. It is a legacy. 💜

Diedra, thank you for choosing CHILD, Inc. as your work home for the past three decades. Thank you for the lives you have touched, the professionals you have inspired, and the compassion you continue to bring to this work.

💜 This Domestic Violence Awareness Month, Delaware is taking important steps to strengthen protections for survivors.

Five new laws have been signed to provide greater support and legal protections for people impacted by domestic and sexual violence — helping protect survivors’ privacy, strengthen protection orders, expand safeguards, and ensure survivors have a stronger voice.
