Sonia Ollin Tezcaquetzalli is a cultural educator and guardian of ancestral knowledge from the Mexica tradition. With more than two decades of experience, she studies and shares wisdom related to Mexica codices, the Nahuatl language, temazcal, pre Hispanic dance, and traditional herbal medicine - knowledge that has been passed to her through her lineage, particularly from her paternal grandmother.

She serves as the guide of the lunar dance circle Xochiyollotl Mixiuhqui Metztli, where she promotes the revival of ancestral ceremonial movement. As a primary school teacher, she integrates Indigenous pedagogies into contemporary education, including the use of nepohualtzitzin, an ancient Mesoamerican mathematical system, as a tool for teaching cultural identity, knowledge, and traditional science.

Sonia's work focuses on creating spaces for self reflection, cultural learning, and community well being. Her mission is to preserve, honor, and share the teachings of the Anahuac peoples in a respectful and educational way, helping others connect with the values, wisdom, and living traditions of her ancestors.

We excited to welcome her at next Tribal gathering 😊🙏

Geo Fundraiser: Building the Ngäbe Buglé Community Dining Hall and Learning Space

We are excited to announce the beginning of a deeply meaningful project in the Kodri Region, Llano Ñopo Community, in The Heart Of The Ngäbe Buglé Comarca, Panama.

Together with the local community, GeoParadise is helping to build a Community Dining Hall and Learning space, a place everyone is welcome, where people can come together to share food, knowledge, and connection.

🍲 A space for nourishment and care
The new communal hall will serve as a hub for the entire community, a space where people can gather eat, cook, and share meals, while also serving over 500 children who will benefit from daily nourishment. It will include a collection center to support children and people with disabilities, ensuring that everyone has a place feel safe and cared for.

🏠 A shelter for travelers and volunteers
Many families and individuals from nearby villages must walk 1 - 3 days through rough terrain to reach medical care or basic services. The second floor of the building will provide simple sleeping quarters with hammocks and mattresses, a safe and welcoming place for travelers, volunteers, and visiting educators to rest.

📚A Place for Learning and empowerment
The project will also include a training and education room, coordinated with local government programs, NGOs, and educators. It will host workshops on literacy, regenerative practices, nutrition, permaculture, and sustainability, empowering the community to create long term change from within.

🛠️ Phase 1: Laying the foundation
Construction has already started with local 🙌 and ♥️ working together. Our current goal is to raise $3,000 USD for the materials needed to complete the basic structure of the building. Every contribution helps, the people are already there, shovels in hand, ready to continue.

How to help
Your donation directly supports this grassroots initiative, a living space where people can gather, learn, and rest. Whether it’s $5 or $500, every bit helps building a sustainable and inclusive future for the Ngäbe Buglé people.

Donate today and help us build the foundation for connection, care, and resilience. 🙏

🌿 Fundraiser Update: Spreading Joy and Togetherness This Holiday Season

In 2022, we began our project of sponsoring kids presents for the each upcoming holiday season. To this date, we continue bringing joy to children from Indigenous communities in Panama, gathering little ones from several communities to share a weekend of celebration, play, music, and togetherness during December and January.

The idea was simple, yet deeply meaningful: to create a moment of joy, to encourage communication between communities, and to give the children a space where they could meet each other, laugh, receive gifts, enjoy home-cooked meals, and feel the warmth of abundance that this season can bring.🎉🙏

Our colleague Aisen, who leads these initiatives in the communities, carries this vision with a heart full of purpose. She believes that every child deserves to smile widely, to be healthy, and to have access to the basic needs that all humans should enjoy, clean water, food, clothing, medical attention, and care, and of course, so do we.

Working as a small NGO is not easy. It means constantly reaching out, filling out forms, waiting in offices, asking for help again and again. Yet Aisen never stops. Her persistence, dedication, and love for the communities keep this work alive.

This year, she is working to bring joy to around 3,000 children, along with their families, by preparing gifts, food, piñatas, and small surprises that will fill their hearts with happiness. To make this possible, she needs help.

It is a big task, but one we truly believe in.

You can chip in and be part of the magic, helping us bring smiles to so many faces. 🙏❤️
Donating to Geo is safe, quick and transparent.

GeoParadise: Doing The Good Stuff 🌍💫

Aisen, our unstoppable charity goddess, is forging ahead with the new canteen and dining hall for orphaned indigenous children. She’s already got an architect draw up plans, the local council providing equipment and workers and they have already broken ground! 🙌

But that’s not all, along the way she’s been supporting a homeless father and child, helping them access government aid, food, and clothing. She’s also been helping a young person through an extremely difficult situation, making sure they receive the right care and support.

Her compassion and drive are truly incredible. 💖
Aisen, you are a force of good, we’re so proud of you. 🌟

🌴✨ Tribal Gathering: Doing The Good Stuff.. ✨🌴
We were honoured to support the community of Playa Chiquita, Colón, for their celebration of Panama’s Separation from Spain on November 28, 2025 🇵🇦✨.

The event featured bands from schools across the district and lots of festive activities. We donated toys and provided support to help with this celebration for the families and children in the community. Carlos lead the way for us, DJing and being an all round good guy. 🎧🔥

It’s always a joy to contribute and see smiles all around! 🧸🎶🎉

No matter where we come from and which part of the world we call our home, it is fascinating to see how different cultures mark the passage of time.

Each tradition reflects the human desire to honor our ancestors, celebrate the cycle of life, and remember that light and shadow are both part of the same whole. 🌚🌙🌕🌞🌓🌖

Right now, as we transition from the end of October to the beginning of November, it is autumn 🍂 in the Northern Hemisphere and spring 💐 in the Southern Hemisphere, so seasonal changes and meanings differ depending on where you live.

Across the globe, many peoples celebrate festivals that honor the cycles of life, death, light, harvest, and transformation. In Mexico and other Latin American countries, people celebrate Día de Mu***os (Day of the Dead), connecting with ancestors. In Europe, there are traditions like All Saints’ Day, Samhain, and the Slavic Night of Veles, while some cultures hold Festivals of Light marking seasonal transitions.

At Tribal Gathering, we embrace this diversity of beliefs and practices, recognizing how deeply connected we all are through our stories and rituals. We want to invite everyone, from all cultures and traditions, to share if you have special customs, stories, myths, or beliefs connected to this time of year. Maybe it’s about the veil between worlds being thinner than usual at this time of the year, communicating with ancestors, leaving offerings to spirits, remembering and honoring deceased loved ones, seasonal transitions, or anything meaningful to your culture.

If you post about your tradition, please tag @ GeoParadise as a collaborator so we can see your stories and share them on our social media. We’re excited to explore the connections and diversity of human traditions around this season with all of you.

Hearts full, and how wouldn't they be! Honored to be accompanied by some of the most extraordinary people out there🙏

We are honored to welcome David Greendeer (Ho-Chunk Nation of Wisconsin), Danielle Greendeer (Mashpee Wampanoag), and their children to Tribal Gathering 2026.

They will be sharing the sacred traditions of the Woodland people through drumming, singing, and storytelling, carrying the heartbeat of their ancestors into our circle.

In this photo, the family sits beside the big drum of the Winnebago Sons, wearing their beautiful traditional contemporary Woodland regalia - symbols of living culture, resilience, and connection.

🌿 We can’t wait to receive their songs, their stories, and their presence.

🌿 Antonio Gamarra – Naso Leader, Panama

We are pleased to announce that Antonio Gamarra, an Indigenous leader of the Naso people of Panama, will be joining us at the next Tribal Gathering in February and March 2026. He will take part in our panel discussion, lead workshops and presentations, and share more about his experience and work.

Antonio is known for his unwavering commitment to defending the rights and territories of his community. For years, he has been at the forefront of the struggle for the recognition of the Comarca Naso Tjër Di, an ancestral territory located in the Bocas del Toro region.

His work focuses on three fundamental pillars:
🐆 Territorial rights: Defending the recognition of the collective ownership of the Naso ancestral lands.
⚖️ Political autonomy: Promoting respect for the political structure and self-determination of the Naso people.
🌿 Environmental stewardship: Denouncing the exploitation of natural resources on Indigenous lands and promoting the protection of biodiversity and Naso cultural heritage.

Thanks to the persistence and solidarity of his people, the Naso achieved a historic victory with the official recognition of their ancestral territory through Law 188 of December 4, 2020. Antonio Gamarra continues to raise his voice for Indigenous rights, environmental protection, and the dignity of his people.
