I'm really sorry to say that I have to pull the plug on this year's tournament. With all that is involved with taking care of the living, honoring Dad will have to wait for next year. I'll be reaching out to those who have been so generous to explain and hopefully secure their support for next year. Dad was a very practical, take care of those for whom you are responsible, kind of guy. He would support this decision. We are not giving up, only giving ourselves the time to do this properly. Thank you for understanding.

EVENT IDEA - "The Coke and Nabs Whistle Contest". Coke and "Nabs" (cheese and peanut butter crackers) were essential fishing gear as far as Larry was concerned. The first contestant to eat 3 peanut butter crackers and whistle wins a prize. The Coke can only be used either after a successful whistle or after the third cracker is consumed (depending on how mean we choose to be). Runner-up prizes could be given for best sounding whistle, loudest whistle, and best song.

I'm trying to find civics organizations that will take charge of running these events and provide prizes. Prizes will be awarded at the lunch at the end of the day.

EVENT IDEA - Casting clinic and contest. The casting clinic would start right at 7am. Kids can line up along the beach to learn how to cast properly. After a short clinic, a kiddie pool full of water will be placed on the beach. Kids can try their hand at casting a teardrop sinker into the pool, taking 10 steps away from the pool after each successful cast. When they miss, the distance from their last successful cast will be recorded. The longest cast into the pool wins a prize for that age bracket.
