Midway Little League and Capitol Little League Merger

Dear Families,

The Midway and Capitol Little Leagues which have operated independently since the early 1960’s received unanimous approval from Little League International Inc. to merge their leagues. For the past two years we operated as a combined league known as Mid-Cap Little League. On December 6, 2022, the combined Board of Directors approved a motion to rename this organization Pike Creek Little League. This vote followed the results of a poll distributed to families where a majority of families felt a new name was needed. The leading responses to that poll were Kirkwood, Pike Creek and Limestone.

This merger completes a three-year initiative by both leagues that was undertaken to pool resources to better serve the families of our community. The goal of this organization is to teach the game of baseball to children ages 4 -16 in the greater Pike Creek area.

Pike Creek Little League is a 100% volunteer run organization. We provide a quality, affordable baseball program for children through the sacrifice of our volunteers and the generous support of over 50 local and national businesses and organizations who donate money, materials, labor, land and more. We are always looking to support those who support us by sharing our sponsor businesses through social media posts, website logos, fundraiser events, sponsorship signs and banners and uniform logos.

Play will continue at the Midway complex located behind Forest Oak School, Catalina Field located next to Green Bank Park and Pyle and Vaught Fields located behind Brandywine Springs School.

We look forward to seeing everyone in the spring. Information on spring registration will follow in the next few weeks.

Board elections will be coming up shortly.

Many of our current members have been on the board for quite some time and several will be leaving after this season. It is imperative that we have new members as a part of our board this year, even though we are nearing the finish line of our merger with Midway. We have been utilizing Little League's approved "Combined Play" option for the past few years at several levels and in 2022 we were "Combined" at all levels from TeeBall to Seniors. We have an official merger request submitted to Little League International and we have been told that a decision will be given after the Little League season is over (post LL World Series).

Although a new Board of Directors would be formed once a merger is approved, it is imperative that there be equal representation from both leagues in the newly formed league. In order for us to do that, we need people to step forward. This league is a fully volunteer run organization that we should all be proud of.

I would especially encourage those of you that have children playing in the TeeBall, Minor A and Minor B divisions to give some thought to this. Your children will be playing in the league for several years and it gives a great opportunity to assist with the leadership and guidance of the league that they are playing in while they are here.

There will be many opportunities to help. I've heard all kinds of reasons over the years as to why people are skeptical about joining the board. I can tell you that the best grouping of people is a diverse group and I would welcome any questions you may have about how and where you could help.

Mid-Cap District All Stars lost a heartbreaker last night to Naamans 2-1. The all star season has ended for all of our teams. We had are most successful year in All Star competition and look forward to building on this years success. Thank you to all the managers, coaches, players, volunteers and Mid-Cap families !!!

Let’s keep the train rolling !!! Mid-Cap District All Stars advanced to the District 2 Championship Game after a great victory last night against Newark American.

Please come out tonight as Mid-Cap takes on Naamans in the Championship game @ 7:00 pm Newark National - Clark field ( we have to beat them twice) to win the championship.

It's on!! Tonight our All Stars are at it again! Come out and support our teams! Juniors All Stars and 9 yr old All Stars are both playing tonight!

MidCap Junior All Stars take on the Brandywine team in the Juniors tournament tonight. Game time is 5:30pm at Newark National's field

The MidCap 9's are playing Canal tonight in the Championship at Catalina field at 7pm. It also happens to be Dollar Dog Night 🌭🌭
