Grateful for the beginning of another cohort of awesome humans who came into the space prepared and ready to immerse themselves in the intellectual and emotional journey of becoming a Community Health Worker in Violence Prevention (CHW-VPP) as trained through the lens of CommUnity-Based Public-Health response to Violence (CPrV).

The journey has begun for 21 powerful souls passionate and dedicated about learning what it takes to build commmunity based ecosystems to address root causes of violence and their shared risk and protective factors.

It’s exciting and inspiring to be able to support the world in addressing such challenging issues and offering an experience that increases capacity of professionals to be successful.

At the sametime It’s also sad to see so many duplicite governmental gatherings who claim that their goal is to prevent violence but fear and consciously avoid the roots cause of violence.

As the world progress in many ways it gradually deteriorates because the opportunities to be courageous and truly effective is being missed as so-called professionals are being hand picked to reinforce preset agendas that are designed to sound good but in fact only worsen the problem by ignoring the root drivers to disportionate exposure to violence and social insecurity within historically oppressed communities. This is the essential structural determinant of health that leads to structural violence and systemic abuse.

At the end of the day we are grateful that Allah has allowed us to plant seeds and activate change in the minor ways that we are allowed to do so.

Adding four new states to the reach and approaching 200 professionals trained; we are honored to continue sharing spaces with amazing human beings dedicated to working to make the world a better place.

As we shut down for the evening after a long two days of foundational curriculum delivery I can only remind myself and anyone who is listening that access to quality life is a basic human right and systemic behaviours that deliberately deny these rights are in fact perpetrating crimes against humanity.
