The 23rd Azalea Children's Tea, "Bows and Belles" presented by the Cape Fear Volunteer Center was held on March 22nd at the Cape Fear Country Club. It was a gorgeous day, the event was emceed by the beautiful Miss North Carolina 2025, Sophia Kellstrom, and there were 13 Tea Belles all dressed in shades of pink by Alma Fennel of "Drapery World" .

Musical performances were presented by Andi Creech, Miss Wilmington; Greta Kate and Eliza Rose Haugland.

The Cape Fear Volunteer Center is the coordinating agency for New Hanover County for the North Carolina Volunteer Service Award.

It is time to nominate someone from your agency or someone you know that is a dedicated volunteer in our state. The following is the link that you can submit your nomination. They will make sure that your nomination gets to the correct county. We look forward to honoring your nominee. Remember, this can be a group, a teenager, a long-term volunteer, or an outstanding volunteer that's been with you for over a year. Be sure to read all the people that you could honor through this award.

Thank you so much to all of you who helped hundreds of kids to have a Merry Christmas. We have people who didn't ask for help until as recently as last night after we thought we had fulfilled every wish and then when I got home there was another one and we'll be able to do it.

Thanks to everyone who dropped off things even at my front door. Thank you so very much for all of your help. Thank you to everyone who carried a box, delivered to a home, wrapped a gift, those who went shopping and stood in long lines, those who translated for us and those of you who will help us clean up. Thank you to each of you.

Volunteers wrapped the gifts, ranging from toys to clothes, for kids who were on the Big Buddy Christmas list.

‼️‼️It’s the Saturday before Christmas, and there are still some angels who do not have gifts for Christmas morning. You've been so generous already, but we still have some more kids that need to be adopted with the following requests:

👼 We have a family from Whiteville that had a fire. Their whiteville neighbors have done amazing things for them and they hope to be back in a home January 1st. But their kids are hoping to get a TV.

👼 We have many older children would love fast food gift cards, movie passes, Roblox gift cards, and clothes for older/ teenagers girls and boys.

👼We have an 18 month old girl who needs a car seat. It can be new or lightly used as long as it is still in date!

👼 We have A young lady asking for help taking their bedroom from a little girl bedroom to a more adult bedroom. She would like pink and black accessories. More adult than child. Can you help?

Okay it's Christmas and we have children that don't have any presents. We have this pretty little tree that have children that are waiting for you to adopt them. Not just the ones on the tree under the tree are more than a hundred kids waiting for you. If you want a child we can give it to you digitally or you can stop by and we can give you the angel to take with you to the store. If you want a 5-year-old we can give you one. If you want a teenager, we have lots of those. If you don't have any time today, that's all right. We'll still be here. But we need some toys. We need lots of toys. There's still time to order through Amazon but the hours are dwindling on that. All of the local vendors would really love for you to purchase local. We are here at the Elks Lodge on Oleander. We are here from 10:00 in the morning until 5:00. We need the toys ASAP. If you've already given for a child, you can come back and get a different one. We could use some bikes, we could use some cozy, cuddly oversized things that people enjoy, those fancy blankets, hobby lobby has really fun things I think the teenage girls would love. I think that y'all could shop and make these kids really happy. Please help us shower the children with love through material items, I know that sounds terrible but at Christmas time that's what they want or are some things that they can go back to school and say I got this really cool thing. Help us make them feel loved at Christmas time in Wilmington. Thank you so much! Can message me back, the kids that you're going to be helping are from the big buddy program, they are from churches, they are from the Spanish program. They are from local housing project areas. They are from everywhere. You would be helping so many children. I can't wait to see you! When you bring these presents back I will be overjoyed to thank you for them.
