The Governor's Mansion was a lovely venue for the General Davie Chapter Libertea on Saturday, April 12. Thanks to the Yates Mill Chapter for letting me hang out with them. A wonderful high tea was had by all. 250!

On July 5, 1775, the Continental Congress sent the Olive Branch Petition to King George III—a final plea to avoid war. They affirmed their loyalty to the crown but begged the king to stop the violence and rethink Parliament’s harsh policies.

His response? Nothing. He refused to even read it.

One year later, Congress declared independence.

In just 12 months, hope for peace gave way to a revolution.
