We are driven by the belief that a child’s zip code should not determine their destiny

By ensuring equitable access to high quality education, we empower children and their families to close and even reverse the achievement and opportunity gaps through our growing portfolio of schools that includes GLOW Academy and SPARK Academy (opening Fall 2023). About GLOW Academy: GLOW Academy educates the ‘whole girl,’ empowering them to claim the highest levels of personal and academic achievement to become future leaders and life-long learners. We seek to close the achievement and opportunity gaps for first generation, college-bound young women by focusing on college preparedness, enrollment and graduation for all of our students. About SPARK Academy: Spark Academy is a state-of-the-art school for all children ages 6-weeks to five. Our innovative mixed-income model is focused on the elements of high quality early childhood education that lead to kindergarten readiness and the latest research in how young children learn and thrive. A community health care clinic will also be on site, and a community farmers market will frequently be offered on weekends. Our innovative school for children ages 6 weeks to five will feature the highest quality environment and curriculum for all children, using a mixed-income model to ensure that children have an experience that prepares them to thrive in kindergarten and the larger community. Spark Academy will offer reimagined early care and learning to a diverse population of children and families who seek an experience that will provide a strong foundation for success in future education and beyond.

Spark Academy set sail for a Summer SAILabration! 🌊

Inspired by the STREAMin³ curriculum, this week’s theme brought early learning to life through boats, water, and hands-on exploration. Students investigated buoyancy and wind power, then using those discoveries to design and build their own sailboats. They also strengthened early math skills through measuring, sorting, and comparing while building literacy through boat-themed stories and new vocabulary.

It’s a fun and engaging way to bring science, engineering, math, and literacy together as Spark rounds out its summer programming! ☀️⛵

This summer, students from Girls Leadership Academy of Wilmington Classes of 2026, 2027, and 2028 spent nine unforgettable days discovering the beauty, culture, and adventure of Costa Rica. From hiking to La Fortuna Waterfall and kayaking on Lake Arenal to zip-lining through the rainforest, exploring the Santa Elena Cloud Forest, visiting local farms, and experiencing Costa Rican traditions firsthand, each day offered a new opportunity to learn and grow.

Needless to say, they made the most of every minute. Take a look at a few highlights from their journey!
