Wilmington Historical Society

Wilmington Historical Society The Wilmington Historical Society, founded in 2003, is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization charter. Members and the general public are encouraged to attend.

We meet monthly on the 1st Wednesday of each month, at 6:30pm at the Wilmington Community Center (*note that we do NOT meet in December). An “Open Discussion” on a Wilmington History-related topic starts each meeting, and lasts about an hour. Refreshments are served. Our location in the Wilmington Community Center has allowed us to both house and display our collections of archival materials and a

rtifacts, as well as make available our research library, all in the same centralized location. Our research hours for researchers, genealogists, and for those who would just like to browse our collection --- the 3rd Tuesday of each month, from 10am-1pm. Hours by appointment will be all year long by calling 518-420-8370.

WHS JUST RECEIVED AN IRONMAN FOUNDATION 2025 VOLUNTEERISM GRANT!
A BIG THANK YOU TO ALL OUR VOLUNTEERS! (ALL 44 OF THEM!)
The Wilmington Historical Society’s volunteers for this year’s Ironman Lake Placid were awesome! We all had a great time (even with the rain) and loved supporting the athletes from all around the US and the World. Since we have a long history of sport in our community, we all can appreciate the time, effort and challenges that the Ironman athletes face. The funds from the Volunteerism Grant will be utilized for programming and operations of our historical society--- from speaker events, to displays at community events, to genealogy assistance, to live history-related musical performances, and living history.

Thanks for stopping by to visit our "Porch" at the Festival of Colors yesterday! We welcomed old friends and new acquaintances, sipped some iced tea or lemonade, relaxed on our cozy and comfortable wicker furniture, thumbed through old photo albums, viewed photos of the Construction of Whiteface Memorial Highway and chatted about Wilmington history. We learned some things from our visitors, too! We also appreciate all who support our work by becoming new members, participating in our raffles and making purchases of books and items for sale. Congratulations to our raffle winners --- Charlotte Lawrence for winning the 50/50 and Tom Jones for winning the Gift Card Basket Raffle. Gabrielle Carlson won the Silent Auction for the authentic Santa's Workshop reindeer antlers.
