Get to know 2026 College Unbound student, Catherine Butler! 🙌

Through the WLC’s partnership with College Unbound, Catherine is advancing her professional goals while growing in confidence as an educator, leader, and advocate.

🎤 Reflecting on her experience so far, Catherine shared, “Through my coursework, projects, and life experiences, I have learned that my voice, experiences, and perspectives have value.” As a result, she is now “more comfortable speaking up, sharing ideas, and advocating for the needs of the students and families I serve.”

Driven by her passion to create positive change in her community, Catherine’s core project focuses on enclothed cognition: the idea that what we wear can influence our thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Through a two-day interactive workshop, she aims to raise awareness about the connection between clothing, confidence, and overall well-being. 👚🧠

We’re so proud of Catherine and her growing confidence to make meaningful change in Wilmington! 💙 Help us cheer her on in the comments!

Drum roll, please! 🥁 Introducing our first ever College Unbound graduate...Melanie Santiago Rosado! 🎉

As a full-time paraprofessional and mother of three, Melanie didn't know how she'd find the time or resources to pursue her dream of becoming a certified teacher.

That's where we came in! 👀

With support from the Wilmington Learning Collaborative, Melanie enrolled in the College Unbound program: an innovative, online, tuition-funded bachelor's program designed specifically for busy adult learners. This May, just a year and a half after enrolling, Melanie graduated with her bachelor’s degree in Organizational Leadership and Change. 🎓

Melanie said it best:

“I thought it would be complicated...but it wasn’t. College Unbound really guides you. And the fact that we have the WLC supporting our cohort has been a wonderful tool to connect both spaces.”

Congratulations, Melanie! Join us in celebrating this incredible ‘26 grad in the comments! 🎓 You rock, Melanie!

The Wilmington Learning Collaborative’s Teacher Innovation Lab (TIL) and Teacher Leadership Design Fellowship (TLDF) showcase and end of year event brought together 45 teacher leader fellows, along with school and district leaders. Throughout the evening, educators shared their learning journeys, design work, problems they explored, solutions they tested, and results they observed in their classrooms.

It was a chance to hear directly from the people doing the work and recognize the progress happening across Wilmington schools. Thank you to everyone who joined us. 💙

✏️ 🎨 🔬 💻 Wildcat Wednesdays at Shortlidge Academy are opening the door to creativity and exploration for young learners. Each week, students dive into STREAM activities like music, dance, digital art, and hands-on science while teachers engage in professional learning that strengthens the classroom experience.

It’s one example of how schools across the WLC are bringing exciting enrichment opportunities directly into the school day.
