Meet up near the rocks at Fort Fisher at 5:30. We will roll by 6am (Sunrise is 6:14). Low tide will be at 7:55.

The plan is to ride to beach and enjoy the sunrise. Fat bikes are recommended but can be ridden on tires larger than 2½ inches if you're feeling strong! Some will ride to Bald Head lighthouse but participate to whatever level you feel comfortable.

BRING WATER and what you need for the ride. (snacks, sunscreen, etc.)

The trail is closed at the moment for rain but when it reopens you will notice some big changes. The two bridges that are nearest the parking lot have been replaced with culvert pipe. This has been an ongoing process to remove all wooden bridges throughout the trail. With the financial support of New Hanover County Parks & Gardens and Cape Fear SORBA volunteer labor we continue to make the trails better, safer and sustainable. When you see Dave, Lance and Jeremy give them huge high 5s! They are the core foundation to continue the improvement at Blue Clay Bike Park!

Friends, THE PUMPTRACK IS NOT OPEN.

Yes, it is rideable but the area is still a construction zone. Please respect that construction zone for your safety. We are very close to opening and will have a huge party to celebrate.

We have worked on getting this addition to the park for 6+ years. I and others with Parks Conservancy of New Hanover County are just as excited to fully open this amazing addition to the bike community. We can wait just a bit longer.

Thank you for respecting this request and be preparing you wheels to pump thru this track! Your local bike and skate shops Blue Clay Bikes Two Wheeler Dealer City Bicycle Company Shore Break Bikes Riverlights Ernie’s Bicycle Repair are ready to add the perfect bike for flowing thru the pumptrack or getting your bike tuned up!

A clarification from our fantastic volunteers. Thank you!

Contrary to what some people may post on some local mountain bike pages, you can and should trust the Cape Fear Sorba website and App for openings and closings. There may be a delay between the chains being dropped and it being opened online from time to time as we are volunteers and all have full-time employment. There is a process or chain of command about how we operate as most things are this way. Some of us are tasked with opening and closing the park, others are tasked with opening and closing the website and the app. If there is a delay it's because we're busy working. We dedicate time when we have it to be able to volunteer for our mountain bike community. I would definitely follow the website/app versus the visual chains being down because you don't know if it's going to be opened or closed and if you get chained in then you can contact the sheriff's department to let you out. This is for bikers, runner, hikers, dog walkers, etc. Don't think parking down the street to ride is acceptable either.
