💚 Neighbors Helping Neighbors — One Porch at a Time!

Meet Bailey D., one of our two PORCH Wilmington Student Ambassadors! Bailey collects donations from her neighborhood, Waterstone in Porter’s Neck, every other month. Even with a busy high school schedule, she makes time to give back to her community—and we are so grateful for her dedication!

At the beginning of August, Waterstone collected an incredible 184 pounds of food for Mother Hubbard’s Cupboard! 🥫👏

Thank you to Bailey, Waterstone, and all of our incredible volunteers and generous donors. Every bag, every can, and every dollar makes a difference.

Mother Hubbard’s Cupboard is currently in greatest need of:

🥫 Large canned chicken
🥫 Canned green beans
🍝 Spaghetti noodles
🧃 Individual healthy drinks (juice boxes, bottled juice, etc.)

As you shop this month, please consider adding a few of these items to your cart for our next PORCH collection.

📅 Next Middle Sound Loop area collections: Friday, August 28th

Thank you for helping us support our neighbors and our local food pantry. Together, we can make a difference—one porch at a time! ❤️

☀️ Summer is a time for vacations, pool days, and making memories—but for many families, it's also the hungriest time of the year.
When school is out, thousands of children lose access to the breakfasts and lunches they count on during the school year. Sadly, only about 15% of children who receive school meals continue to receive them over the summer.

That means:
🥫 Families face higher grocery bills.
💙 Local food pantries see a significant increase in demand.
📉 Food donations often slow down just when they're needed most.

Hunger doesn't take a summer vacation—it grows.

You can help make a difference. Whether it's donating a few nonperishable items, volunteering, or starting a PORCH neighborhood food drive, every act of kindness helps put food on a family's table.

Summer brings sunshine, family vacations, and longer days — but for many families, it also brings increased food insecurity.

When school lets out, thousands of children lose access to the meals they rely on during the school year. In fact, only about 15% of children who receive school meals continue to receive them throughout the summer.

As a result:
• Families face higher grocery bills
• Local food pantries experience increased demand
• Donations often decrease during the summer months

It's a challenge our local pantries see every year, and it places added pressure on families already struggling to make ends meet.

The need for food assistance doesn't take a summer break — it grows.
