Junior League of Wilmington (DE) Women building better communities! The Junior League of Wilmington was founded in 1918 under the inspiration of Mrs. William S. Bergland.

The Junior League of Wilmington is a 501(c) (3) nonprofit volunteer organization. Since its inception, the women of the League have encouraged every member to use her talents and resources to improve the social and economic conditions of others. Today, the League has over 400 members, making it a large nonprofit organization in Delaware. Continuing to focus on improving the health, education, and welfare of those in need, the Junior League of Wilmington serves as an important volunteer resource and a catalyst for positive change through our partnerships with other nonprofit organizations in our community. Over the years, the Junior League of Wilmington’s focus area has changed to meet the diverse needs of our community. From actively supporting a woman’s right to vote, creating a Foster Care Review Board to protect children’s rights, helping to build the new Woodlawn Library and participating in numerous projects with the Ronald McDonald House, the Junior League of Wilmington has been a force in Delaware. Most recently, we spearheaded passage of Erin’s Law in Delaware, requiring publicly funded schools to implement age-appropriate, prevention-oriented sexual abuse education. For nearly 100 years, the women of the Junior League of Wilmington have dedicated their time, energy, and resources to impact our community.

🇺🇸We’re proud to announce our partnership with the League of Women Voters of the US!

For more than a century, both organizations have been rooted in the belief that women can strengthen their communities and create meaningful change. Today, that shared legacy continues through a partnership focused on connecting women and communities with trusted, nonpartisan voter education resources.

Together, we’re helping voters get informed, get prepared, and participate in the civic process.

As we celebrate National Voter Education Week, we’re excited to kick off this partnership and connect Junior League Members and League of Women Voters members around a shared commitment to civic engagement.

Let’s give a round of applause for Diedra Harper of Child Inc. 👏 Diedra’s partnership with the Junior League of Wilmington is central to the first year of our Building Better campaign. Thanks to her, we are privileged to help revitalize their women’s crisis shelter.

Meet Diedra and learn more about this project at the October General Membership Meeting on Tuesday, October 20 at the First Unitarian Church in Wilmington.

Congratulations on 30+ years of service and leadership, Diedra. Wilmington is lucky to have you.

💜 Celebrating 30 Years of Dedication, Compassion & Service 💜

For three decades, Diedra Harper has been an extraordinary part of the CHILD, Inc. family—and her impact reaches far beyond our walls.

On September 30, Diedra, our Director of Domestic Violence Sheltering, Housing, and Case Management Services, celebrated an incredible 30 years with CHILD, Inc. Her career serving and advocating for victims of domestic violence spans 36 years.

Over those years, Diedra has walked alongside countless individuals and families during some of the most difficult moments of their lives. She has offered safety, compassion, guidance, and hope while helping survivors take steps toward brighter futures.

Her impact can also be seen in the generations of professionals she has helped shape. Diedra has mentored many of Delaware’s current victim service professionals and supervised countless student interns beginning their own journeys in the domestic violence services field. Her knowledge and experience have strengthened not only CHILD, Inc., but our entire community.

Those fortunate enough to work alongside Diedra know the dedication she brings to her clients and staff every single day—as well as the expertise, energy, and wonderful sense of humor she shares so generously with colleagues, community partners, and the people we serve.

Thirty years at one organization is more than a milestone. It is a legacy. 💜

Diedra, thank you for choosing CHILD, Inc. as your work home for the past three decades. Thank you for the lives you have touched, the professionals you have inspired, and the compassion you continue to bring to this work.

Please join us in congratulating Diedra Harper on 30 remarkable years with CHILD, Inc. and 36 years of service to victims and survivors of domestic violence.

You are truly a treasure to CHILD, Inc., to this field, and to our community. 💜
