A note about the program from conductor Emily Ballentine Erb:
"Cultural institutions across the country are commemorating the 250th anniversary of the founding of our nation with a wide range of programming. In curating this program, I was drawn towards pieces that celebrate the best of the American dream while holding space for the inequalities and injustices that have kept that dream out of reach for many."
