Spotted: the most important p**p bag dispenser in Chicagoland. 👀

Every dispenser is a small reminder of something big. The veterinarians and veterinary professionals who care for our pets carry a heavy load, and these dispensers are here to help lighten it.

Here's how it works: grab a bag for your walk, scan the QR code on the dispenser, and learn how you can support the people who support our pets every day.

Mental Illness Awareness Week is October 5–11, and this year’s theme, “Building Community: Supporting Mental Well-being Together,” gets right to the heart of why Veterinary Hope Foundation exists.

Veterinary medicine asks a lot of the people who care for animals. Sometimes, those people need to be cared for, too.

For those working in veterinary medicine, community can make a real difference. A colleague who checks in. A group where you can be honest about how things are going. A conversation that reminds you you’re not the only one having a hard time.

VHF was founded on the belief that veterinary professionals deserve that kind of community and that mental health support shouldn’t have to wait until someone reaches a breaking point.

We gave a crap, and we had a blast doing it. 💙

Huge thanks to Pup Social for hosting Givin' a Crap: A Veterinarian Social, to Coco Mango Açaí for keeping everyone fueled, and to all of our amazing volunteers for showing up to support veterinary mental health. And to every pup who came out to play: you were all very, very good dogs.

Stay tuned. Next week, Veterinary Hope p**p bag dispensers start popping up across Chicago. Learn more at lightenloads.com.

Worry, stress and anxiety can look and feel pretty similar, but they aren't the same thing. Knowing the difference can help us better understand what we’re experiencing, recognize when something is becoming harder to manage, and know when it might be time to reach out for support.

Our latest blog breaks down the distinctions between worry, stress and anxiety, and why understanding them matters.

It's a whole movement. One that is needed more than people realize.

Behind every healthy pet is a veterinary professional carrying more than most people see. Our dispensers are a small, unexpected way to start a big conversation about veterinary mental health. Visit lightenloads.com to learn how we're lightening loads for the people who care for our animals.
