🧱 Apprentices at Work — Building Skills from the Ground Up 🧱

The Delaware First Cooperative apprentices continue to gain hands‑on experience in the field, mixing mortar and laying CMU block walls with precision and teamwork. They also spent time applying foundation coating to CMU walls, learning the importance of proper surface preparation and protection.

Hands‑on training like this reinforces proper techniques, teamwork, and the importance of quality workmanship on every project.

LEEP P2A apprentices were out spreading and screeding a concrete slab, learning the precision and teamwork it takes to get the job done right. This is hands on training at its best—building confidence, skills, and strong foundations for the future.

This week, one of LEEP’s P2A Alumni, Issa Raheem Clarke, reunited in Washington, DC, with Delaware’s U.S. Senator Lisa Blunt Rochester during LiUNA Eastern Region's Lobby Day 2026. They had a meaningful conversation about the current labor landscape in Delaware and the issues impacting our communities.

Two years ago, Issa met Senator Blunt Rochester for the first time at LEEP’s Training Center in Wilmington, Delaware. It was a full circle moment rooted in opportunity and connection. Relationships built through access, advocacy, and shared purpose are what move pathways forward and turn participation into lasting impact.

LEEP enjoyed engaging with teens at the Delaware Department of Labor - Division of Employment & Training’s 2nd Annual Hire ME Teen Job Readiness Workshop & Job Fair at Delaware Technical Community College!

We educated the young jobseekers on the programs, resources and mentorship that LEEP offers to help pathway them into earning apprenticeship careers in the building trades. 😀👷🏗️🧰🔨

LEEP's P2A graduates are now union apprentices with Delaware 1st Cooperative - learning, growing, and working side by side with experienced contractors.

Here, Du'Juan Lewis of Forever Us General Contractors is showing apprentices how to safely and efficiently use a hammer drill - passing down knowledge that builds confidence, skill, and a future.

We’re not just training workers - we’re empowering people to rebuild their communities and their lives.

LEEP is thrilled that our recent graduates have already been placed into union residential apprenticeship careers with Laborers Local 199. P2B partners, like Forever Us General Contractors, are mentoring these apprentices and helping LEEP to build a stronger local workforce for our community!

Our LEEP P2A Class 19 and Groundwork to Greatness graduates recently completed GENCON (General Construction) Training and earned their OSHA 30 Certification. They are now Residential Construction Apprentices with the Laborers Local 199, working in the field. 🙂👷🏾‍♂️👷🏾‍♀️🧰🛠️
