Rodel's own Keda Dorisca, Kelsey Mensch, and Kia Johnson led and supported amazing workshops that sparked powerful conversations around joy in the classroom and empowering communities to engage in the public education policy process.

"What problems do you want to solve, and what skills will help you solve them?" For Rodel's Kim Lopez, helping students find an answer is the center of Rodel's work with the Pathways Impact Fund. Through $2.1 million in grants, Rodel is working to center student's voices, build their confidence through early career exploration, and give them hands on experience through apprenticeships. Delaware is building the education workforce of tomorrow! The Delaware Teacher Residency program provides future educators with in-classroom experience, mentorship from experienced teachers, and stipends for qualified applicants in critical-needs schools. This investment in the education workforce pipeline is a critical part of strengthening Delaware's education system for the future. We wish this year's cohort of 97 residents the best as they begin their time in this crucial program.

97 future educators are spending the 2026-27 school year gaining hands-on classroom experience through Delaware’s Yearlong Teacher Residency program.

The program pairs future educators with experienced teachers for a full school year while they complete their educator preparation. Residents build their teaching skills, work directly with students and become part of a school community before leading classrooms of their own.

This year, residents are serving across 19 Delaware school districts and charter schools, and 90 qualify for a $25,000 stipend because they are preparing in a critical-needs area, placed in a high-needs school, or both.

The residency helps Delaware build a stronger teacher pipeline by giving future educators the preparation, experience and support they need to begin their careers ready to serve students.

Because when new teachers start strong, their students start stronger.

We are deeply grateful to Governor Meyer, Secretary of Education Cindy Marten, Rep. Kim Williams and Sen. Laura Sturgeon , and all of the passionate advocates who put in tireless work to make SB 302 and SB 303 happen. By moving to a hybrid funding model and codifying the Public Education Funding Commission into law, Delaware has taken a major step toward equitably providing students with the support they need to succeed. We look forward to continuing the work and building on these achievements!
