DID YOU KNOW? 💜

For someone living with a chronic illness, their day may not start until noon… or even later.

While much of the world is up early, getting dressed, heading to work, running errands, and checking things off a list, someone with chronic illness may still be trying to convince their body to simply get moving.

It can take hours for the pain, fatigue, nausea, stiffness, or other symptoms to become manageable enough to start the day.

And when they finally do get moving, they may accomplish one thing… and then need to rest again.

Shower. Rest.
Get dressed. Rest.
Run one errand. Recover.

It isn’t laziness or a lack of motivation. Sometimes their body simply requires a different pace.

One of the hardest parts of chronic illness is watching the world move at a speed your body can’t always keep up with.

So if someone’s day begins at 1:00 in the afternoon, celebrate that they got up. If they only accomplished one thing, understand that one thing may have taken everything they had.

Chronic illness doesn’t always look like being sick. Sometimes it looks like quietly rearranging your entire day around what your body will allow.

Be patient. Be kind. Give grace. 🤍

You never know how hard someone had to fight just to get out of bed today.

🌅 WHAT ARE YOU PLANTING TODAY?

This morning, several different devotionals seemed to point me toward the same message:

☀️ Every new day is another opportunity to choose how we are going to live.☀️

Scripture reminds us that we reap what we sow. If we plant judgment, pride, negativity, or the priorities of the world, eventually those things find their way back into our lives. But when we plant kindness, grace, encouragement, forgiveness, and love, we are planting something God can use.

And the beautiful thing is, His mercies are new every morning. 🤍

Yesterday may not have been our best day. Maybe we judged someone too quickly. Maybe our attitude wasn’t what it should have been. Maybe we became distracted by things that really don’t matter. Maybe we were the ones who were judged, misunderstood, or hurt.

But then comes the sunrise.

A fresh start.

Another chance to ask ourselves:

Am I living for the approval of the world or the approval of God?

Am I looking for the faults in others, or am I showing them the grace Jesus has shown me?

Am I planting something today that I would be happy to harvest tomorrow?

We don’t have to be perfect to live like Jesus. We simply have to keep choosing Him…one decision, one conversation, one act of kindness at a time.

So today, choose a positive attitude. Give someone grace. Encourage someone who is struggling. Replace judgment with prayer. Do something good when no one is watching.

And if yesterday wasn’t your best day?

Thank God for the sunrise. His mercy gave you another one. 🌅

“Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.”
— Galatians 6:9

🙏 Lord, thank You for the gift of another day. Help me to live less like the world and more like You. Guard my heart from pride and judgment, help me plant goodness wherever I go, and let the life I live today reflect Your love. Amen.

Today’s challenge: Plant something today that you would be grateful to harvest tomorrow. 🌱🤍

August 18 - Remember Who You Are 🤍

Remember who you are. Remember whose you are. And live like you believe it.

We carry so many titles - wife, mom, daughter, friend, caregiver, leader. But none of those is our greatest identity.

☀️ John 1:12 reminds us that through Christ, we are children of God. ☀️

That means when fear says, “What if everything goes wrong?”
Faith can answer, “God is already there.”

When your mind says, “I’m not enough,”
God says, “You are Mine.”

When the world feels frightening, Isaiah 12:2 reminds us:
“I will trust and not be afraid.”

But there was another message running through today’s readings: Don’t just read God’s Word - live it.

If God says forgive…forgive.
If He says give…give.
If He says love…love.
If He puts someone on your heart…reach out.

The best time to start is now.

We have been set apart for God’s purposes. There are people around us who need encouragement, hope, love, and most importantly, Jesus. Maybe today God wants to use you to reach one of them.

So today:

🤍 Catch the negative thought and replace it with God’s truth.
🤍 Remember that your identity is found in Christ, not your title.
🤍 Stop putting off what God has already asked you to do.
🤍 Look for one person who needs His love.

You are more than your circumstances.
You are more than your mistakes.
You are more than your fears.
🩷 You are a child of God and you have a purpose.

🙏 Prayer:
Lord, remind me who I am in You. Replace my fear with faith and my negative thoughts with Your truth.

Help me not only read Your Word but live it.

Show me where You want to use me today, and give me the courage to say yes. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

“God is in her story” (excerpts from a post by our newest Warrior Box recipient)

This is the HEART ❤️ of the Ministry (yes I cried when I read it)

After these torn pages fell out of my recliner yesterday, the dogs started barking. I had just received a package. I wasn't expecting a package so we were both surprised. I had Kev set it up on the table and as soon as he opened it I stopped him. Follow along with me this morning as I show the Internet how true kindness still exists. How angels walk in plain clothing.

This package was put together by a non profit ministry for people with chronic illnesses or facing serious life health challenges. A box of hand made, hand picked, and prayed over items to bring you comfort, joy, and peace. I needed to have him go through it very slowly so I could truly appreciate and experience the joy of this unboxing.
To remember that feeling when time gets tough. 🥹

After my husband carefully opened and unwrapped the contents of the "Warrior box" from Warrior Braids Ministry ... tears. Follow along with me this morning to see the full reveal ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ It was packed so carefully, so bright, and colorful. It even smelled amazing! I was overwhelmed and tried to stop him from removing the items to show me. I said just keep them in there so I can look at them. I'll use them slowly one by one to appreciate each thing.

Kev literally never tells me no even when I try to strong arm him 😂 he's such an easy going guy.

But not yesterday. He got serious. He pulled a gift out addressed to my caregiver and he said "Absolutely not". "We're taking out everything in this box and you're going to touch and use everything starting now. That's why they sent it. It's for you to enjoy, not to put in the corner afraid to touch it. Someone made this for you, take a few pictures then take everything out and use it. "

❤️ In my heart I didn't feel worthy. He saw right through me. And in that moment he demanded I allow myself to feel joy. To feel seen. To feel loved. Then I did.

I finally took my pictures and removed all of the items from my carefully curated "Warrior box" from Warrior Braids Ministry. Every item was picked personally for me down to the pink and gold color scheme and use of my absolute favorite color... Anything that sparkles! 😆

I needed to feel hope. My spirit was running on empty. I needed to feel understood by someone else, anyone with a serious chronic illness nobody else could see. Someone who has walked my path.

And this group, this kind woman showered me with love. I cried that morning. I was accepting that my old life was gone. That the only way to keep going was to accept this is the new me, and I had to ask myself not what I think I'm capable of, but what do I truly want my life to look like now? Who do I want to become in this chapter of my life?

It's always in my hashtags, and I always knew deep inside I already was...I want to be a WARRIOR!!! It's not a cliche. It's what we all are. With everyone's help, I found my strength again. If you're running on empty today, you can all share some of mine. ❤️❤️❤️

150 Warrior Boxes. 💜

What began as a whisper from God during one of the hardest seasons of my own health journey has now touched 150 warriors and their families.

I never imagined my pain would become someone else’s hope. But God did.

Every Warrior Box is more than a package, it’s a reminder that someone is praying, someone cares, and no one fights alone.

If God places something on your heart, trust Him. Stay faithful, even when you can’t see the path ahead. He will provide.

Thank you to every warrior, volunteer, donor, and supporter who has made these 150 Warrior Boxes possible.

Here’s to the next warrior who needs to know they’re not alone. 💜

Sometimes God places a dream on your heart that doesn’t make sense to anyone else.

People may not understand why you keep showing up, why you keep believing, or why you keep pouring your time, energy, and heart into something that seems impossible.

But when God calls you, He doesn’t ask everyone else to understand. He asks you to trust Him.

Warrior Braids Ministry started with what many would have called a crazy idea, to encourage people battling chronic illness around the world through hope, faith, and Warrior Boxes. Today, we’ve been blessed to reach warriors across the country because we chose obedience over fear.

If God has placed a dream in your heart, don’t let the opinions of others silence the purpose He’s given you.

The dreams that seem impossible to the world are often the very ones God uses to change lives.

✨ Trust the process.
✨ Take the step.
✨ Follow His calling.

Because sometimes what looks “crazy” to everyone else is exactly where God is leading you.

No warrior should ever have to walk alone. 💜
