We filled up four free community pantry locations this afternoon. Lots of protein, including tuna and canned chicken as well as sensible ingredients to help you make a meal.

Gasoline at $4.19 a gallon certainly throws a little organization like us out of budget real quick.

For instance, our produce pick up in Wallace costs us $29.33.

Three years ago when we started this program gas was $3.56 a gallon. It’s a 15% increase.

Why are we crying about pennies you may ask?

If we’re feeling it, the working part of our community are definitely feeling it and need our help even more. Which means we need your help even more.

Consider making a donation today. As the holidays are quickly approaching, we are stocking up on gas cards, holiday related non-perishables and monetary donations.

A chef-curated 501c3 nonprofit dedicated to serving high-quality meals to struggling individuals & families who don’t qualify for food assistance. 💚

We are thankful to our friend, Maria, who loads up our vehicle every week for a deep discounted price of $200.

It’s a win-win situation. On slow days at the Wallace Flea Market, she knows she has our purchase coming in. It’s hot outside, she’s working out of a truck and horse trailer with no air-conditioning. She’s working hard and we have great respect for her and her sweet children that tag along weekend after weekend.

In addition to cooked meals, we are able to giveaway fresh produce that some families may not be able to typically purchase.

While we well know that canned vegetables will keep you alive, is the only goal of blessing people just to keep them alive?

We want to encourage folks to keep working and stay out of the welfare system. This is our small way of doing so by offering nourishment and dignity with a smile.

Seeing the unseen that are in plain sight.

There was a restaurant back home called Charlie Staples BBQ. He was an older man with a good sense of humor and always smiling. At the end of his commercials, he would always say, “our secret ingredient is an extra cup of love”.

In my mind, fresh produce is an extra cup of love. ❤️

We would love you to sponsor next weeks load.

A big thank you to our friend, Michelle, from Dollar General who generously donated foil pans/lids and ziplock bags today.

These items are essential to our food rescue and distribution efforts.

❤️ 200 MEALS. 200 PEOPLE TO REMIND THAT THEY MATTER.

Today, 86 Hunger Now rescued approximately 200 portions of food — pulled pork, fiesta corn, baked beans, dinner rolls and black bean burgers.

This weekend, we’re turning those meals into lunch kits for the people working hard to keep our community running.

Gas stations. Convenience stores. Retail. Restaurants. Hotels. The people working hourly jobs while most of us are enjoying our weekend.

Each meal will come with a simple message:

“We see you. We appreciate you. Thank you for showing up.”

Because sometimes a hot meal feeds your stomach…

but knowing someone cares feeds your soul. ❤️

Please share this. Let’s remind our community that no matter what your job is, your work matters.
