The Wilmington Habitat Stewards Training is a 3-day workshop (June 20-22) which brings local wildlife experts together to educate participants about how to steward and fortify habitat for wildlife in the southeastern coastal plain.

All three days take place at Halyburton Park, with hands-on habitat work in the park’s restored longleaf ecosystem.

The training is best suited for gardeners, naturalists, birders, and wildlife enthusiasts who are ready to expand their knowledge and plan habitat projects in the lower Cape Fear region.

We had a great time at Westgate Nature Park in Leland today! If you are looking for an accessible nature trail that also has a fun nature-themed playground with educational signs this is your spot!

We used to help us identify plants along our walk and .bird.id and to identify the birds that we saw and heard today! We even saw an Anhinga at the end of our walk flying overhead!

Thank you to Margaret Shelton from Shelton Herb Farm for coming out and sharing so much knowledge with us about the history of conservation in Brunswick County! And to Lauren Schaale from Cape Fear Audubon for tracking all our birds for us!
