Why We do, what we do.
When you put on a badge, gun, vest its not because you have to do it, its because its a calling. When you put on ice skates, you do it for fun. We decided to blend the two for charity. For years, Wilmington Police Department has been facing Wilmington Fire Department in an annual Guns vs. Hoses tournament. Recently, we decided to expand. We decided that instead of having just one game per year, we would strive to play other teams. All of our team members come from a law enforcement background, some retired, some active, some moved on to other things. One thing remains the same, the cop in all of us has never changed. Our Charity for 2020 is bluehelp.org. Recently, in one year, WPD lost three current and retired members to sucide. Blue Help is dedicated to making sure that su***de awareness in law enforcement is its number one cause. We think so too. Come out and see us in action and support our cause. We would like to thank our 2020 Sponsors for their dedication too, Salty Turtle Brewery of Surf City, Labatt Blue and Insurance House. Without them, we couldn’t be on the ice.
