Financial support can mean more than easing a financial burden. It can give someone more options. đź’š

Dawn is navigating breast cancer while pursuing an integrative, metabolic approach alongside her conventional treatment. Through the MTIH Patient Grant Program, she received financial support to help make supportive therapies, specialized testing, and metabolic coaching more accessible.

“I really appreciate this financial help! It is unexpected how much you will be paying out of pocket when you want a full body approach.”

She also shared this message for those who helped make her grant possible:

“You are helping people have options that will help and not harm their bodies!”

Stories like Dawn’s remind us that hope grows through community.

If you or someone you love is navigating cancer—or if you know someone who could benefit from learning about an integrative, metabolic approach to care—our Patient Grants page is a great place to start. You can learn about financial assistance, how to find a Terrain-trained provider, and resources to help you take the next step.

Please share this post with someone who may need it. Together, we can help more people find support, guidance, community, and hope. đź’š

What does your immune system have to do with cancer?

More than many people realize.

Researchers continue to explore how immune health influences inflammation, metabolism, gut health, and overall wellness. While no single food, supplement, or lifestyle habit can prevent or cure cancer, understanding how these systems work together can help you make more informed decisions about your health.

One of our Metabolic Health Day sponsors, Zonia, is hosting a FREE educational docuseries, Immune for Life, featuring more than 35 physicians, researchers, and health experts discussing immune health, chronic inflammation, nutrition, metabolism, and whole-person wellness.

đź’™ Cancer care doesn't have to be either/or.

One of the most meaningful messages Laura Lummer shared during our Community Conversation is that being open to learning doesn't mean saying yes to everything.

It means understanding your options.

Laura credits conventional treatment with saving her life, while also sharing how supportive metabolic and lifestyle strategies have helped her navigate treatment and maintain her quality of life.

Every person's journey is different. Every treatment decision is personal.

The goal isn't to choose sides.

The goal is to make informed decisions with a healthcare team you trust.

đź’™ Your voice matters.

A cancer diagnosis can make it feel like decisions are happening to you instead of with you. But one of the most powerful messages from our Community Conversation with Laura Lummer is this:

“This is your life. It's not your oncologist's life. It's your life.”

Being your own advocate doesn't mean arguing with your healthcare team. It means asking questions, understanding your options, and partnering with providers who listen and respect your goals. And if speaking up feels overwhelming, bring someone you trust to help ask questions, take notes, and support you.

No one should have to navigate cancer alone.

Have you ever brought someone with you to a medical appointment for support? We'd love to hear what helped you most.

When Laura Lummer's cancer began showing signs of becoming more active, her doctor recommended IV chemotherapy.

Before moving forward, she asked for one more test.

That decision changed everything.

An NGS (Next-Generation Sequencing) test identified a genetic mutation with a targeted therapy available. Instead of IV chemotherapy, Laura was able to begin a treatment tailored to her cancer. Her tumor markers dropped, and her enlarged lymph node shrank.

Her story is a powerful reminder of why understanding your options—and asking questions—matters.

When someone is diagnosed with cancer, one of the first things they're often given is a prognosis.

While those statistics can provide valuable information, they don't tell the whole story.

During our Community Conversation, Stage IV cancer survivor Dale Weber shared one of the most powerful messages of the afternoon:

"Your prognosis is not your destiny."

Dale talked about the importance of hope, visualization, healthy boundaries, and believing that your body has an incredible capacity to heal and respond.

Every person's journey is different.

Every person's biology is different.

Every person's story is still being written.

If you missed this inspiring conversation, we've made the recording available.

"I don't even know where to start."

We hear that from patients all the time.

After a cancer diagnosis, you're expected to make life-changing decisions while you're scared, overwhelmed, and trying to process information you've never heard before.

That's why Dale Weber believes everyone deserves someone who can walk alongside them.

Not to make decisions for you.

Not to replace your doctor.

But to help you understand your options, organize the information, ask better questions, and feel confident in your next step.

Ketosis Isn't All or Nothing.

How much ketosis do you actually need?

According to Dr. Amy Neff, there isn't one answer. Just as medications are personalized, the level of ketosis that works best can vary from person to person.

In this clip from Metabolic Health Day 2024, learn why ketogenic metabolic therapy isn't a one-size-fits-all approach—and why individualized care matters.

Read the blog for more clips, key takeaways, and a link to the full presentation.
