Thanks to Will McFarland of Meals On Wheels Northeastern Illinois for presenting at our club meeting today! They run quite an impressive operation, delivering over 120K fresh, chef-prepaded meals each year (6days/wk) to people throughout Northeastern Illinois who would otherwise experience food insecurity. 🍛

The Youth Philanthropy Board of Evanston and the North Shore is looking for mentors, and the ask is a good fit for a lot of you.

They want people with experience on a volunteer board, or in philanthropy, marketing or finance. The program brings together students from NSCD, Regina Dominican, Loyola Academy, Evanston Township and New Trier to learn fundraising, grantmaking and community service by actually doing it.

You'd be working with a genuinely committed group of students from across the North Shore. Message us and we'll connect you with the program coordinator.

Four things this club has put its weight behind this year: water wells at schools in Angola. Lunches packed and delivered for people without housing. Ultrasound equipment and training in Uganda. Books collected for under-resourced Chicago schools.

One club, in one village on the North Shore. That's what an hour on a Wednesday adds up to.

Our monthly lunch-packing night is Tuesday, October 6 at 6 pm — bagging lunches for Connections for the Homeless at St. Joseph's Church, Lake and Ridge. Enter through the east lower entrance.

It's about an hour of assembly line and conversation, and a club meeting follows right after. October is Evanston Lighthouse's month to host; members from Winnetka-Northfield join us too, so it's a full room.

Our Place holds its 5K Run/Walk this Sunday, October 4 at Community Playfield, raising money to support people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Seasoned runner, casual walker, or someone looking for a decent reason to be outside on a Sunday morning with family, all of it counts. Everyone is welcome.

The Big Book Drive starts today and runs through November 13, with collection at every Wilmette public and private elementary school plus Loyola Academy, Regina Dominican and New Trier.

We're partnering with Bernie's Book Bank again to get books into under-resourced Chicago schools, kindergarten through high school. Picture books, chapter books, YA, if a kid would read it, we want it.

No agenda, no speaker, no committee report. Just Rotarians and a drink at the Wilmette Harbor Club, Wednesday September 30, 6–7pm.

Two days out. TEDxWilmette 2026 is Saturday, September 26 at the Wilmette Recreation Center Auditorium. Six speakers, one theme: Especially Now.

The talks run through human connection, career advancement, food security and more an impressive lineup of women, live, in our own village.

Today is a big one. District 6440 Governor Rick Reigner makes his official visit to our club noon at St. John's Lutheran Church.

The official visit is the DG's chance to see a club up close and ours to show what we've been doing this year. A special in-person board meeting runs beforehand at 10:30am.

If you've been meaning to visit us, this is the meeting to pick. Guests welcome.

Selfless. Giving. Service to others. Wednesdays at noon.

Service Above Self isn't a slogan we put on a wall, it's the reason a dozen people show up at Gillson Park on a Saturday morning to pick up other people's trash, and pack lunch bags on a Monday night, and spend October collecting books for kids who don't have any.

If that sounds like your kind of hour, we meet Wednesdays at St. John's.
