The APEVIE Double Regional at WeatherTech Laguna Seca is shaping up to be our best event yet. Here's the latest news:

First, our Premier Partner, APEVIE Simulator, will be on site in Garage 9 with their custom-built racing sims, available to try out for free. You can sign up for specific time slots or just drop by. Apevie is founded by an experienced team of racers. They engineer their sims to have the most realistic racing dynamics on the market. Apevie’s sims are powered by custom PCs by BILLT PC, also founded by a fellow SCCA racer. SFR-SCCA members get a 5% discount on Apevie’s Turnkey systems. Be sure to stop by and give their sims a try and possibly set the top time of the day!

Second, Aqualine Performance, operated by our own Shawn Sarbacker, will be on site offering vehicle washing services for everything from race cars to RVs and semi’s. Shawn will have booth a set up just east of the café, and mobile unit that can come to your spot in the paddock. Shawn is offering special member pricing as well. A clean race car goes faster than a dirty one. Just remember, you’ll kick yourself if you qualify 0.1s behind the guy who showed up to grid with a real “shiny side up.”

Finally, we will have a live video broadcast on YouTube, with multiple cameras set up around the track to capture all of the racing action—from your perfect pass into T11 to your defense of the line into T2. We’ll have top-notch race commentary as well. We’ll distribute the link to the YouTube feed a couple of days before the event, so be sure to send it to all your friends.

The annual Spec Racer Festival took place last weekend at Thunderhill Raceway, bringing together drivers, crews, friend & family for an excellent weekend of motorsport.

Highlights from the event include:

• Fast Action & New Collaborations: In a joint effort with SCCA Time Attack and Global Time Attack, the Spec Racers put on a show with three close, exciting races.
• Historic First Broadcast: The races were broadcast live, allowing family, friends, and sponsors back home to catch all the action.
• Off-Track Fun: Saturday night featured a great community dinner and a raffle packed with major prizes, including new tires, test days, and parts vouchers. And watch party to view the race replay.
• Virtual Hot Laps: Apevie Race Simulators was on-site with their simulators, letting drivers, crew members, and friends go head-to-head in virtual hot laps around Thunderhill.
• Inaugural Sportsmanship Award: This year marked the debut of a new award honoring drivers who, by popular vote, embody exceptional driving skill, on-track judgment, and a positive contribution to the club. Congratulations to the inaugural winners, Sean O'Boyle and Bill Booth!

The days are long, the overalls heavy, and it's scorching hot and humid. The workers are all staying in the same hotel and take 15 busses with a police es**rt to the track daily.
