Last weekend Ananda Kanan hosted the Ozarks Artist Retreat for the 4th consecutive year. All of us involved had a great time sharing art and fellowship. The highlight was our trip to Alley Spring near Eminence MO where i did the painting below and where participants Dennis Babbitt, Lorraine McFarland and Maitreya were working on their paintings. We got lucky on Saturday with the warm weather and with the rain holding off for us, then on Sunday while the cold wind was blowing outside we were warm and comfortable inside the dining hall painting a still life. Most of the time artists get together at competitions where the emphasis is on producing and hopefully winning. Our event is about mutual support and camaraderie. Michael/Sudhiira

Arun
Just a few weeks ago a longtime dear friend of mine Ed (Arun) Glassman passed away. Arun was an artist and craftsman who used his skill and gifts to delight audiences of children and adults with his magical puppetry. For decades he taught students at the Denver Art School how to use the medium of film to make statements about the world around them. Deeply spiritual and committed to serving the community he lived in, he was involved in many projects that made life better for those in need of support. If you had a problem to solve, all you had to do was ask Arun and chances are he could find a way to make it work. And maybe his best talent was just being present when you needed a kind and sympathetic soul. He is already missed by so many.
Shortly after his passing, his lifelong partner MJ Glassman had to undergo stomach surgery. While she is recovering, friends and family have been pitching in to help do all the things that Arun and MJ were doing around their home. There are sizable medical debts and people have to be paid to provide the needed labor. There is a gofundme site set up for them, and a site called CaringBridge.org that helps keep friends in touch with their situation (MJ Glassman). I decided to help them financially by creating a section of my personal art website, www.michaelmcclure.com/collections/220814, which makes some of my artwork available to raise money for them. When a person contacts me to purchase a painting I deduct my cost for framing and shipping, then send the remaining amount to MJs account. On the Arun Memorial Fund page is a suggested market value for each painting, and also a choice to make an offer. Again, the link for that page is www.michaelmcclure.com/collections/220814. Thank you.
