One Heartland

One Heartland We provide summer camp for kids who need it most. Camp True Colors - Minnesota, a camp for young people in the LGBTQ+ community.

Founded in 1993, our mission is to improve the lives of children, youth, and families facing significant health challenges or social isolation. When One Heartland was established in 1993, our mission focused solely on giving children with HIV/AIDS the best week of their lives. Since then, as community needs have changed, we have evolved and expanded to a place dedicated to improving the lives of c

hildren, youth and families facing other significant life or health challenges, facing homelessness or identifying as LGBTQ+. And while our mission still begins with providing care-free weeks at camp during the summer, program participants and their families also enjoy year-round peer and community support and education. And since most of One Heartland’s campers live at or below the poverty level, we rely on the generosity of donors and volunteers to makes our programs a reality. Our programs include:

Camp Heartland, a program serving youth ages 7-15 from all over the United States who have been affected by HIV/AIDS. Camp Northstar for youth ages 7-13 experiencing homelessness or housing instability. Camp Hollywood HEART is an arts-based camp in California for youth ages 15-20 who have been affected by HIV/AIDS. All told, in our 25+ year history, we have served over 10,000 children. If you are interested in donating, volunteering or registering for one of our camps, please contact us.

Over the weekend, several past campers and staff gathered in Minnesota for a camp reunion. Whether you came from near or far or were there in spirit, thank you for gathering and creating a whole lot of camp magic!

Our hearts are heavy as we hold the Camp Mystic and Heart O’ the Hills communities in our thoughts following the devastating flooding in the Texas Hill Country. Our hearts are with the families of the missing, the lives lost, and the profound impact on these camps, their campers, staff, and families is heartbreaking.

As a camp family ourselves, we know the powerful bonds and lifelong memories formed at camp, and we mourn alongside them during this unimaginable time.

To our friends in Texas — you are not alone. The entire camp community across the country is standing with you, sending love, strength, and support in the days ahead.

On this , we remember those we have lost to HIV/AIDS and honor those who are living with and affected by HIV/AIDS.
