Our Opening Day Celebration on Saturday, May 2nd, 2026, was such a beautiful and powerful way to open our museum for the year and to welcome the public to our new exibits! Especially our new native room that beautifully showcases some of the rich and magnificent culture of our areas indigenous people.
We can't thank Bradley Marshall enough for his time and expertise in guiding us to bring this vision to fruition! Bradley was also a terrific emcee for the afternoon! Telling stories and introducing our speakers. On he and his lovely mother Erma's birthday, nonetheless! Many, many thanks to you, Bradley!
We'd also love to give a heartfelt thank you to all of our guest speakers of the afternoon!
Danny Ammon, who gave a beautiful land acknowledgment and opening prayer.
Clarence Hostler, who was gracious enough to bless us with singing the oldest song he knows. "Grandma's Song."
Allie Hostler, who was born and raised in her ancestral territory on the Trinity River, spoke so eloquent and passionately about our rivers, the lifeblood these rivers bring these sacred lands and the importance and responsibility that the stewards of these lands have to maintaing the health of our rivers.
And last but certainly in no means least, our keynote speaker, Susan Masten. Susan spoke about the detrimental effects of poor policies and the horrendous struggle her family faced in implementing the necessary changes to give back the inherent river rights to the natives of the Klamath-Trinity area. Susan spoke so meaningfully and pointedly that you couldn't help but hang on every word she said.
Thank you to our museums Board President Caroline for putting in the tremendous effort and elbow grease to bring this all together in a spectacular way! Thank you to all of our incredible volunteers and to all of our community members who came to show your support!
"The River Connects Us All."
