Eagle Lake Improvement Association

Eagle Lake Improvement Association Eagle Lake Association is a non-profit organization dedicated to enhancing, preserving and protecting the quality of Eagle Lake and its watershed.

The Eagle Lake Improvement Association originally was formed because of concerns over declining water quality. The Eagle Lake Improvement Association by-laws were adopted on July 7, 1966. In December of 1968 the Eagle Lake Association lead the discussion on a centralized sanitary sewer around the lake with Kandiyohi County. By October 20, 1969 Kandiyohi County commissioners approved Eagle Lake's c

entralized sewage system, and in 1973 the peripheral sewage collection line was in place around Eagle Lake. It was the first of its type constructed in out state Minnesota. Three sediment basins were also constructed in the watershed; they were designed to reduce the sediment and nutrients delivered to the lake from its predominantly agricultural watershed (Simons, 2011) and (Wright, 1995).

Carp Update
The Eagle Lake Improvement Association has applied for the 2026 Carp Removal Grant and has been awarded $7,500 matching funds. Last year we ran into many delays and were not able to remove the rough fish as planned. We have been in contact with the DNR to see what our various options are for the removal of the rough fish. We will keep you posted as more information becomes available.

Adopt-a-Neighbor
We think most of you would agree that Eagle Lake has its own special community in that residents here care for one another and do their best to be helpful when opportunities arise. We would like to open the door for Eagle Lake residents to share stories about neighbors helping neighbors. We want to publish such stories in our newsletter to showcase the kindness and neighborly efforts of our very own Eagle Lake residents. Please send your stories to Virginia at [email protected]
