We are just two days away from the Minnesota State Fair!

Whether you are exhibiting your poultry or just visiting the animal barns, remember you play an important role in preventing the spread of germs.

Just visiting? Here’s how you can help keep yourself and the animals healthy.

🛑 Always ask before petting an animal. Avoid petting an animal while eating food.
🧼 Wash your hands with soap and warm water and dry them before and after you leave each barn.
❌ Stay away from the animals if you are sick.

Did you know that Minnesota was recently able to declare freedom from Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI) in the state’s poultry population? While this is great news, it's not the first time, and the work of preventing HPAI is far from over. Animal health officials and producers need to maintain vigilance and biosecurity practices while also preparing for the next wave.
