The Kandiyohi County Historical Society's Scarecrow Festival is happening now through October 31, 2026!

Take a stroll through the Historical Society grounds and check out the amazing scarecrows created and decorated by community members. You'll find them located between the Schoolhouse and Log Cabin.

Stop by and explore all that we have to offer. While you're here, be sure to visit the Cogelow Art Center exhibit, "Coming Home," featuring the work of Fred Cogelow alongside four talented area artists: Jesse Garcia, Mary La Patka, Shalese Sands and Ana Serrano.

This special exhibit will be on display through October 30, so don't miss your chance to experience these incredible works of art.

Yesterday, KCHS was able to take a bus trip to the Minnesota Military and Veterans Museum in Little Falls. We had a bus full of veterans who were able to take in this new museum. It was an honor to bring these veterans to this place.

Thank you to the Austin F. Hanscom Post 167 of The American Legion in Willmar, Minnesota Willmar Legion Willmar Community Center Willmar Bus Service and Willmar DAV for their support to make this trip free for all the veterans.

🎄✨ Help make the holidays sparkle at the 4th Annual Kandi Kane Lane!

The Kandiyohi County Historical Society is inviting businesses, nonprofits, community organizations, and families to decorate a tree for this year's festive display.

📅 Open to visitors: November 30 - December 31, 2026

Get creative with your theme and showcase your holiday spirit! Visitors to the museum will vote for their favorite tree, and one lucky participant will take home bragging rights as the winning tree decorator.

⚾ Reminder: Nominations for the West Central MN Baseball Hall of Fame Class of 2027 are now being accepted! ⚾

Do you know someone who has made a lasting impact on baseball in west central Minnesota? Now is the time to recognize them!

The Hall of Fame honors individuals from within a 45-mile radius of Willmar, including communities such as Glenwood, Montevideo, Redwood Falls, and Dassel-Cokato.

Nominees may be recognized in one of three categories:
⚾ Professional
⚾ Amateur
⚾ Community Involvement

Established in 2014 through a partnership between the Kandiyohi County Historical Society and the Willmar Stingers, the Hall of Fame celebrates the rich baseball tradition of our region.
