West Central Singers

West Central Singers The West Central Singers is an adult mixed chorus based in Willmar, MN with members from Willmar and the surrounding communities.

WCS has been performing since 2001 and is currently under the direction of Naomi Powers-Baker. The West Central Singers have been singing together since 2001. Members are given the opportunity to use their vocal talents by rehearsing and performing a wide variety of rich SATB choral selections. The WCS choir presents two concerts a year. Rehearsals begin in late August for a late fall concert, and

begin rehearsals in January for a spring concert. Choir members may also voluntarily perform at special events, such as holiday or sporting events. Rehearsals are held on Thursday evenings at the Willmar Community Center (across from Robbin’s Island) from 6:30-8:30 pm. Dues for the group are $30 per singer per season and are used to offset the cost of music and other expenses. Anyone with a passion for music, harmony and the rich tradition of choral music is welcome to join the group for a fulfilling, fun and rewarding experience.

Willmar Stingers game is still on! ⚾️ Field is being dried out and WCS singers are getting ready to present the National Anthem at game start, 5:05 p.m. 🎵🇺🇲

We were honored to have past directors join us for the 25th Anniversary concert AND direct a few songs!

Pictured at left is Rolf Anderson, founding director from 2001 to 2004. Pictured at right is John Jahr, director from 2009 to 2018. And of course our current director, Naomi Powers-Baker, at center.

We were also honored to be joined by family members of our late past director, Dr. Chet Sommers. Chet directed the WCS from 2004 to 2009.

Thank you all for being a part of this celebration and for your part in the legacy of West Central Singers!

Whew, what a celebration! Thank you to everyone (300+ of you!) who attended and helped make this 25th Anniversary concert extra special!

Thank you to Print Masters of Willmar for another beautifully designed poster and program, to McKales Catering for handling lunch for the choir and delicous treats for the concert reception, and to the Willmar High School for use of their music department spaces and the Brau Performing Arts Center.
