Join Kandiyohi County 4-H for a Meat & Dairy Goat Showmanship & Fitting Clinic. This hands-on clinic will help youth develop the skills needed to confidently present their goats in the show ring. Participants will learn proper fitting and grooming techniques, how to correctly set up and handle their goat, ring etiquette, and common showmanship maneuvers used during meat and dairy goat shows.

We had a great group of youth attend this year’s Livestock Quality Assurance and Ethics (LQA&E) with Swift County MN 4-H!

Youth learned about animal care, ethics, nutrition, biosecurity, food safety, antibiotics and much more.

This class is designed to teach 4-H’ers to be responsible animal agriculture stewards. We look forward to seeing their projects later this summer!

It’s almost time for the Kandiyohi County 4-H Horse Youth Show!

4-H’ers are welcome to come out to Willmar on June 20th at 9 AM to test their skills before their county fair show. The judge for the day is Allison Kircher!

We have 38 total classes. Cloverbuds through 13 year 4-H’ers are welcome to attend. A show bill is in the comments.

A negative Coggins test is required. Register for your classes on site prior to 9 AM.

Second graders at Lakeland Elementary School completed their capstone to Grow a Pizza with 4-H this week!

Over the last month, the classes learned about vegetables for sauce, wheat for crust, dairy for cheese and beef for meat. The final lesson was a delicious pizza party!

Join us on July 22 from 6–8 PM for a Cloverbud Project Night for youth in grades K–3! Members will create two projects and practice how to exhibit them at the county fair. Participants will learn how to talk about themselves, their projects, and what they learned while making them. Parents are welcome to stay, ask questions, and learn more about the fair experience.

We are excited to have several new projects categories at the county fair this year!

One of the new projects is painted spools. These will be used as tables throughout the grounds for years to come!

The Kandiyohi Ambassadors have started their design this week. We look forward to seeing what the other clubs and groups create!

Congratulations to Abby B. and Erynn B. For being selected to receive the McCamus Scholarship through Kandiyohi 4-H!

This local scholarship is awarded to youth who demonstrate leadership, cooperation, enthusiasm and commitment to Kandiyohi County.

Abby will be attending Minnesota West Community and Technical College for Medical Laboratory Sciences. Erynn plans to go to Arizona State University for Pre-Veterinary Medicine.
