Distinguished Young Women of Kandiyohi County The Distinguished Young Women experience is open to every eligible young woman and there is no cost to participate.

Distinguished Young Women of Kandiyohi County is an official local preliminary of Distinguished Young Women, a national scholarship program that promotes and rewards scholarship, leadership and talent in young women. In addition to earning scholarships for college, those who participate in the Distinguished Young Women program develop friendships, self-confidence and other life skills that pave th

e way for future success. The competition for scholarships begins at the local level, in towns and cities like yours. Participants from throughout the region join together in Willmar, Minnesota, where a panel of five judges will select the representative(s) who will move on to the next level of competition at Distinguished Young Women of Minnesota. The young woman selected as the state representative will then compete in the annual National Finals competition in Mobile, Alabama.

We put on a show for the Class of 2021 just five months ago. We were fortunate to raise over $5,000 to support these young women now off to Yale, NYU, the UofM, and more 🎉

The class of 2022 program is happening THIS MONTH, and we need to raise money to award to yet another incredible group of Distinguished Young Women.

🔻important dates (UPDATED)🔻

JUNE 24-26 : Cheer Avery on as she competes at the DYW National Program! She will be eligible for over $130,000 in cash scholarships and the honor of being named the Distinguished Young Woman of America. Each night of Nationals will be broadcast‼️FREE‼️at 7pm CST on www.DYWNationalFinals.com

SATURDAY, JULY 31 : Any young woman from the Class of 2023 is invited to join us ~virtually~ for the ✨ Fast Forward Experience ✨ prior to the State Program. Brainstorm your college application goals & learn more about our scholarship program at our workshop. DM us for more information.

This is the official page for Distinguished Young Women of Kandiyohi County (formerly Distinguished Young Women of Willmar), a scholarship program for high school girls promoting and rewarding scholastic achievement, leadership, and talent, and official local affiliate to @mn.distinguishedyw.

Founded in 1958, Distinguished Young Women is a free program that encourages participants to reach their full individual potential. Our mission is to empower young women by providing over $1 billion in scholarship opportunities each year, developing their self-confidence in a positive peer environment and participating in our Life Skills Workshops that prepare them for success after high school.
