🎾 154 million new tennis balls in the US every year. It is such an absurd number that if you lined them up end to end they would stretch from New York all the way to Cairo. Every. Single. Year.
And most of them are used for a match and then tossed in the trash. That's about 3 hours of use. Each one can touch up to 17 countries in being made. But they get played with for just a few hours. Until the RecycleBalls community took action there was no other option. Now those materials can be reclaimed and turned into something new and useful and good.
You care. That's why you're here. You care about the places you play and the communities you belong to and the planet you want to leave in better shape than you found it.
You want the things you love to have a life after their first life.
When you give today you are helping pull those balls out of the waste stream. Your making sure they turn into new tools for kids, arena footing for therapy horses and volunteers, equipment for health centers, and fresh new sports surfaces for people who want to learn, grow, and move. Even new tennis courts.

♻️ Our next spotlight: Keep Greenville County Beautiful's Tennis Ball Recycling Program has diverted 10,000+ tennis balls out of landfills by bringing the Recycleballs initiative to the Upstate 🎾

Started in 2022 by local tennis player and sustainability advocate Michael San Francisco, the program turns used tennis balls into new products like dog toys, playground surfaces, and even court materials. With support from Greenville Rec and the City of Greenville Parks and Recreation, convenient court-side bins now serve nearly 8,700 players a year.

Michael’s leadership earned him our 2024 Volunteer of the Year Award, proving how just one person’s idea can make a lasting impact.

Big news, team! RecycleBalls has been shortlisted for the 2025 Sport Positive Awards in the Purpose-led Partnership with a Non-Profit category. We’re the only racquet sports organization recognized!

This honor recognizes our partnership with Laykold. The largest sport court manufacturers in the world, and make the US Open courts! Their innovation & commitment to working with recycled materials shows how the sport can lead in performance AND environmental responsibility.

But this recognition belongs to ALL of us, every player, coach, club, and donor who helps recycle balls and reduce waste. Together, we’re proving that small actions can create big change.

Whatever happens, we’re thrilled to be recognized from so many deserving applications and alongside meaningful initiatives like Ocean Conservancy, NBA Green, Common Goal, and Adidas.
