Williston Post 144 American Legion Since 1928, our American Legion Post 144 has been welcoming all Armed Forces veterans.

Our purpose is to continue serving God, Country and Community and to implement the goals, aspirations, dreams, peace and contributing to our community.

On Memorial Day the weather drove us indoors and "rained on our parade". It however didn't dampen our spirits as we honored the service members lost in defense of our Country and recently departed Comrades from Williston Post 144.

Sunday May 17, 2026, Bob Mitchell of Williston Post 144 American Legion presented Niko Koutsoftas, Arthur Chen, Jonathan Penfold and Ian Shaw of Boy Scout Troop 201 with Citizenship Medals and Commendation Certificates at their Eagle Scout Ceremony. This is just one of the many community activities we are honored to be part of as members of the American Legion.

The Town of North Hempstead would like to honor our veterans with a complimentary barbecue for them and their families. Saturday, May 23rd 4:30 pm at North Hempstead Beach Park (Bar Beach) before the ceremonies at 6:30 pm. There is a shuttle bus from Clinton G. Martin park or you can pick up free parking passes at Clinton G. Martin or Michael J. Tully Park. Have your Veterans ID with you when picking up the passes.
