The Coushatti Trace Chapter, NSDAR completed Constitution Week with their final presentation at R. F. Meador Library’s Story Time by reading (and acting out, with the children’s help) the book Liberty, Franklin, and Jefferson: The Birth of a Nation written by Scott Desapio. The children had stuffed animals representing the main characters in the book and one child dressed as King George. Each child received a US Flag, a Declaration of Independence scroll and a Preamble to the Constitution tied with a bell. Members of the chapter as well as the Freedom Chapter, SAR, in historic attire participated in the telling and also treated the children to Revolutionary era songs and explained their attire at the end of the story. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

Coushatti Trace Chapter, NSDAR participated in a community event this past weekend at the North Montgomery Community Center with other civic organizations to help middle schools students learn about government, their rights, their history and their community. The chapter station featured the Declaration of Independence where everyone could add their signature to the document. The chapter also provided a full text document on parchment paper that the middle schoolers could tie up with twine like a scroll. The attendees were also treated to the Life in Revolutionary America exhibit, a trunk show with cooking utensils, fabrics and items from every day life in the late 1700’s. 🇺🇸🇺🇸 🇺🇸
