Today we celebrate ALL animals — big and small, furry and feathered, rescued and loved. ❤️🐶🐱🐴🐐

Here at Jake’s House of Animal Rescue, every day is about giving animals the love, safety, care, and second chances they deserve. 🏡🐾 Some come to us scared, some need time to heal, and others are simply waiting for that special person to finally say, “You’re coming home with me.” 🥹❤️

💙 A Few More Days With Our Benji Boy

For the past three months, we’ve watched our sweet boy slowly decline, and our hearts have been breaking a little more with every change.

It started with him losing his sight. Then came the circling… walking around and around, struggling to understand what was happening to him. More recently, his breathing began to change and became increasingly concerning.

We knew something wasn’t right.

We rushed him to Texas A&M, desperately hoping we would find something that could be treated and that we could bring our boy home with a plan to help him.

Instead, we received the news no rescue ever wants to hear.

He has a large tumor in his head, and that tumor is responsible for the symptoms we’ve been watching him struggle with. 💔

There are no words that can truly explain what it feels like to hear that there is nothing more we can do to fix this.

So, for now, we brought him back home to the rescue.

We have a few precious days left with our boy before we have to make the hardest decision a rescue can ever make — saying goodbye and helping him cross the Rainbow Bridge peacefully, surrounded by the people who love him. 🌈🐾

These next few days aren’t about sadness.

They’re about love.

They’re about holding him close.
Giving him his favorite comforts.
Reminding him that he is safe.
Letting him feel how deeply he is loved.
And making sure that, even though his journey is coming to an end, he knows he was never forgotten and he never stopped being someone’s special boy.

We wish we could have more time.

We wish we could fix this.

We wish we could take this pain from him.

But since we can’t, we will give him the one thing we still can — all the love in the world for however much time we have left. ❤️

Please keep our boy in your thoughts and prayers as we navigate these final days with him. And if you’ve ever loved a rescue animal, you know just how much these goodbye moments hurt.

Sometimes rescue isn’t about saving them forever.

Sometimes rescue means being there when they need us most…
even when our hearts are breaking. 💔🐾🌈

🇺🇸🕊️ September 11, 2001 — We Remember.

Today, Jake’s House of Animal Rescue pauses to remember the lives forever changed on September 11, 2001.

We remember the innocent lives lost.
We remember the families who were left with an emptiness that can never truly be filled.
We remember the brave first responders who ran toward danger while others were running away.
We remember the firefighters, police officers, paramedics, military members, and everyday heroes who showed extraordinary courage that day and in the days that followed.

We remember the survivors who carry memories and scars that may never be seen.

And we remember that behind every number was a person — someone loved, someone’s parent, child, spouse, sibling, friend, or someone’s whole world.

🇺🇸 Today, we honor their lives by remembering them.

As a rescue family, we know that love, compassion, courage, and helping those who need us most can make a difference — and those are values we will continue to carry forward.

May we never forget.
May we always remember.
May we continue to choose kindness, compassion, and love.

🇺🇸🐾 HAPPY LABOR DAY FROM JAKE’S HOUSE OF ANIMAL RESCUE! 🐾🇺🇸

Today, we’re celebrating Labor Day by giving a HUGE shoutout to all the hardworking people who make a difference every single day! ❤️

Here at Jake’s House, our “work” looks a little different… 🐶🐾

It’s early mornings, late nights, feeding hungry bellies, cleaning kennels, giving medications, making vet trips, filling water bowls, giving endless belly rubs, comforting scared souls, and reminding every dog that they are loved. ❤️

Rescue work can be exhausting, messy, emotional, and sometimes heartbreaking—but it is also one of the most rewarding things we could ever do. 🥹🐾

To our amazing staff, volunteers, fosters, adopters, supporters, donors, and everyone who has ever helped an animal in need: THANK YOU for the work you do and the love you give. You are part of what makes rescue possible. ❤️

🚨🐾 WITHOUT PREVENTION, OUR DOGS ARE AT RISK. 🐾🚨

When people think about rescue, they often think about saving dogs.

What they don’t always see are the never-ending expenses that come AFTER the rescue.

Food.
Veterinary care.
Medications.
Utilities.
Staffing.
Emergency care.
And something every single dog in our care needs every month:

🦟 FLEA & TICK PREVENTION
❤️ HEARTWORM PREVENTION

With 50–70 dogs depending on Jake’s House of Animal Rescue at any given time, keeping every dog protected is a HUGE ongoing expense.

And we simply cannot skip it.

Prevention isn’t a luxury. It’s lifesaving care.

Fleas and ticks can cause painful skin problems, infections, anemia, and transmit serious diseases.

And heartworm disease can be devastating. It can cause permanent damage to a dog’s heart, lungs, and other organs—and treatment is expensive, lengthy, and incredibly difficult for a dog to endure.

The heartbreaking part?

Heartworm is preventable.

We believe every dog who comes through our doors deserves the chance to heal, feel safe, and have a healthy future. Many of our dogs arrive already neglected, sick, injured, or carrying years of neglect on their bodies.

We want their time with us to be different.

We want them protected.
We want them healthy.
We want them comfortable.
We want them ready for the forever homes they deserve. ❤️

But with so many dogs in our care, the cost of monthly prevention adds up FAST.
