PBA Local 105 is proud to recognize Officer Diego Heredia-Hernandez as the recipient of our Heroism Life Saving Award.

On May 17, 2026, while off duty and driving home from South Woods State Prison, Officer Heredia-Hernandez observed a woman sitting on the railing of the Broad Street Bridge in Bridgeton. Recognizing the seriousness of the situation, he immediately stopped and approached to assist local law enforcement.

As the woman began to move forward in an apparent attempt to jump, Officer Heredia-Hernandez acted without hesitation. Putting his own safety aside, he lunged forward, secured the individual, and pulled her back over the railing to safety. He then assisted responding officers in restraining and escorting her for medical evaluation.

Because of his quick thinking, courage, and selfless actions, a life was saved that evening.

This award recognizes the highest ideals of public service, bravery, and dedication to others. Officer Heredia-Hernandez exemplified what it means to be a Correctional Police Officer and public servant, answering the call even while off duty.

Please join PBA Local 105 in congratulating Officer Heredia-Hernandez on this well, deserved Heroism Life Saving Award.
