We welcome you to Join us!
All of you are members of what we refer to as deliberative assemblies: The D9, The Links, Jack & Jill, NAACP, Urban League, and all others that meet as a body with structured leadership. All of you also utilize Roberts Rules Of Order as your Parliamentary Authority for your meetings. However, most of us operate according to what is referred to as Custom, meaning whatever the person who was in the seat before you said, you then say. A lot of that is incorrect. We do things like voting on minutes - NO. Voting on reports - NO. Saying "I make a motion". NO. "It has been moved and properly seconded" NO. "Let's table this until the next meeting". NO. "I Rise To A Point Of Personal Privilege - NO. "Point of Information" NO.
All of the above are not actually a "thing." Someone made those up, and doing things like that lead to - hour meetings...which none of us care to be in or have the time for. Agreed? You will have an opportunity to get a snapshot of what the proper terminology and way these things are to be handled are, and hear about how being a member of the Parliamentarians of Burlington & Camden Counties, NJ will be of a tremendous benefit to yourself, and your other organizations.
