Willimantic Whitewater Partnership

Willimantic Whitewater Partnership The mission of the Willimantic Whitewater Partnership is to recapture the waterfront of the Willimantic River.

The mission of the Willimantic Whitewater Partnership is to recapture the waterfront of the Willimantic River (primarily in the Town of Windham and Willimantic) in order to develop an urban waterfront and whitewater park, create a regional swift water rescue and training center, increase safe access to the river for residents, and restore the environment of the river and the anadromous and other f

ish populations and other wildlife. In addition, the WWP seeks to encourage environmental and hydrologic scientific research, serve as a resource and opportunity for local educational institutions to participate in action research, enhance the potential of Willimantic as a recreation hub, celebrate the cultural history of the Willimantic River and support the growth of a trans-cultural arts and enterprise zone in Willimantic, Connecticut. Willimantic is ideally situated near a large, energetic population to take advantage of the whitewater park and other recreation, arts and educational opportunities that will result from this project. Urban whitewater parks have had a positive economic impact on cities like Willimantic across the country. Contact us to learn how you can get involved today!
