💭 Think Twice Tuesday: Week Four 💭

This week is all about kindness. Remember to think twice before you speak, someone may be carrying more than you know. Kindness can help reduce isolation, which is a major risk factor for substance misuse.

We invite you to share a kind word below for someone who may need it, or tag someone who always knows how to brighten a cloudy day 💛

Happy Voting Day Windham and Willimantic 🗳️🐸

Today is an extra special day for us at the Windham Prevention Coalition as one of our very own Youth Council members designed the “I Voted” stickers you’re proudly wearing!

Ali, a student at Windham High School, entered and won the 2nd Annual “I Voted” Sticker Contest for 2024-25. Not only is Ali a dedicated and creative member of our Youth Council, but he is also an outstanding student and community leader.

We are so proud of you, Ali, and congratulations on this amazing achievement!! 🏅

💭 Think Twice Tuesday : Week Three 💭

Underage drinking can change more than your night. It can affect your brain development, increase the risk of addiction, and impact your future.

Think twice before you drink 🏆

The Windham Prevention Coalition was thrilled to return to Natchaug Elementary School for another incredible “M.I.K.E.” (Men Involved in Kids’ Education) event, this time with a fun Halloween twist! 🎃

This special event, sponsored and run by the Natchaug Family Resource Center (FRC) at Natchaug School, is coordinated by Edilma Maheu and Parent Educator Katiria Maldonado. The FRC has proudly been hosting the M.I.K.E. program since 1999, providing a meaningful way to involve male figures in students’ education and strengthen school-family connections.

Natchaug students were invited to bring along a male role model in their lives to enjoy an evening filled with connection, laughter, and memories.

The WPC team had such a wonderful time honoring all the amazing men who showed up to support their kids. In honor of Red Ribbon Week’s theme, we created a special photo booth so each child and their guest could capture this meaningful moment together, something to cherish forever. ❤️

A huge thank you to Natchaug Elementary School and their dedicated staff for hosting such a heartfelt event and for continuing to celebrate the positive influence of male role models in our community!

💭 Think Twice Tuesday : Week Two 💭

What seems sweet isn’t always safe 🍭🚫

Vapes can look fun and taste like candy, but they often contain ni****ne, heavy metals, and chemicals that can harm developing lungs and make it harder to quit later.

Everyone’s still learning about how va**ng affects our health, which is why it’s important for youth and parents alike to stay informed and make mindful choices together. 💙
