Performer Highlight Series 🎶

Experience an immersive journey of rhythm, vibration, creativity, and reflection with Amy Ordonez at Make Music Day Willimantic.

Blending percussion, gong resonance, sound bath elements, and bilateral drawing, Amy creates a unique interactive environment designed to energize, ground, restore, and inspire. Participants are invited to draw, dance, sway, meditate, or simply listen as layers of sound and creative expression unfold together in a shared community experience.

This special session combines meditative art practices with immersive sound exploration to encourage balance, presence, relaxation, and intuitive creativity for all ages.

Local singer-songwriter Kate Miller brings heartfelt lyricism and a beautifully resonant vocal style to the Idea Forge Studios Stage for Make Music Day Willimantic.

Award-winning vocalist, composer, and visual artist June Bisantz joins us for a special performance at the Idea Forge Studios Stage.

A recent recipient of the Connecticut Office of the Arts 2025 Fellowship Award for excellence in both visual art and music, June has toured internationally and performed alongside acclaimed jazz artists including Steve Swallow, Mike Stern, Lew Soloff, Bob Moses, Will Lee, and Steve Davis. Her original vocal jazz recordings have earned national recognition, with reviews and features appearing in People Magazine, USA Today, Downbeat, Jazziz, the LA Times, and the New York Times.

Her recent release, Love’s Tango, has received multiple international honors including a Global Music Award, World Songwriting Award, and Clouzine International Music Award recognition.

Make Music Day Willimantic closes out with rhythm, community, and one massive shared heartbeat.

Join legendary percussionist Bob Bloom at the Idea Forge Studios Stage, 54 North Street, for an interactive outdoor drum circle during the summer solstice sunset.

Bring your favorite hand drum or jump in and play from Bob’s collection of tubanos, bongos, djembes, and doumbeks. All ages and experience levels welcome.

From 1996–2003, Bob performed with the late Babatunde Olatunji and the internationally renowned Drums of Passion ensemble at venues including Lincoln Center, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Washington Monument, and more.

Now he’s bringing that energy to downtown Willimantic.

Come laugh, connect, dance, drum, and help send Make Music Day 2026 into the night with the loudest joyful rhythm eastern Connecticut has ever heard.

We’re excited to welcome The Professors of Sweet Sweet Music (POSSM) as our Featured Performance for Make Music Day Willimantic 2026.

Catch POSSM live at The River Room on June 21 from 1:30–2:00pm as part of a full day of live music, community, creativity, and celebration across downtown Willimantic.

POSSM is also partnering with Project Imo, The River Room - Willimantic and Willimantic Renaissance Inc. on the official MMD-Willimantic 2026 shirt, with proceeds supporting the emerging Next Generation Music Scholarship Fund. More details on that exciting launch soon.

We owe Willimantic an apology.

We’re sorry for joining the annual global celebration of music with the first-ever Make Music Day Willimantic welcoming 12+ performances and 8+ venues already on board… and still growing.

We’re bringing The Professors of Sweet, Sweet Music to The River Room as our feature act. Yes, there’s already fresh local merch being made.

We’re sorry about the karaoke.
The community drum circle with Drumming About You.
Don't even get us started on the UkeMania.
The Kid’s Cupcake Kazoo Parade.
The Percussion Petting Zoo.
Record painting.
Jam sessions.
And the completely unnecessary amount of free live music headed downtown.
