Thank you to everyone who came out and participated in the October skates at the Epic Center. For information on future events stay tuned here and on Buffalo Warriors other social media outlets. Over the years we have collected a lot of goalie equipment that we no longer will have space for. If you are interested in any free goalie equipment (chess protectors, leg pads, gloves, helmet, etc.) please leave a comment on this post and we will contact you to make arrangements for you to pick up the equipment. In addition to goalie equipment we also have an amplifier, speakers and stands that we are looking to liquidate. If interested in the musical equipment, leave a comment below. We would love to see the equipment head to a new home where it will be used and appreciated!!

This week Saturday October 2nd is the beginning of our 5 week Open Skate Program. We hope to see you there! Please read all of these instructions if you are coming to any of our skates. There are some important things to know before you can participate!

First of all:
The 18u skate is from 10am-11am
The 14u skate is from 11am-12pm

AAU insurance
All players will have to have AAU insurance in order to be able to play at any time during the skates. Instructions on how to sign up for insurance are provided in the attached document. If you have any questions please send a private message to Buffalo Warriors. Although you will be able to sign up for insurance at the skate, it is highly recommended that you sign up beforehand and bring proof of insurance with you (in the form of a printout or a picture of your AAU Insurance receipt. Alternately, you can also email or forward a copy of the receipt to [email protected]).

Covid Protocols
The Epic Center has the following Covid protocols in place in order to be able to participate in sports while at the facility:
Anyone who is vaccinated is not required to wear a mask. For those who are unvaccinated, the CDC guidelines and Epic Center policy state a mask shall be worn.
For everyone 17 years of age and younger: You MUST have your parents sign in when you arrive. If they drop you off then you MUST bring a waiver that is filled out and signed by your parents printed off of the Epic Center's Website. Below is a link to that document (a waiver is not required for all players over the age of 17)
https://www.epic-center.com/forms/Epic-Center-Visitor-Waiver-Release.pdf
Epic Center's Covid Guidelines can be found here:
https://www.epic-center.com/reopening_guidelines.php

Players must get dressed in the locker rooms and not on the benches. Locker rooms 1 & 3 are for 18u and locker rooms 2 & 4 are for 14u.

Thank you for your support and we will see you on Saturday October 2nd!

A reminder to all Buffalo Warrior Players and Friends, that we have reserved the Epic Center Roller Rink every Saturday in the month of October 2021 from 10am-12pm. This 5 week session will take the form of a casual pickup skate with different teams being selected each week. We will do our best to make teams even and fair. Players will be charged a fee of $10 to play each week and do not have to pay if they are not in attendance. All players will have to get AAU insurance in order to participate. (More information will follow regarding insurance.) The 18u division will play from 10-11am and the 14u division will play from 11am -12 noon. Any player who did not take the refund from the cancellation of last year's season but opted for a credit towards this session will not have to pay for any of the October skates. In addition any goalie who wants to play will not be charged. We hope to see you all out there for the skates!

Here is the latest update on Buffalo Warriors as of September 2nd, 2021. Starting in the fall of 2021 we were hoping to transfer the operation of Buffalo Warriors to the auspices of Western NY roller hockey & were in discussions pursuant to that end. There were many good reasons for this change, primarily because WNY Roller is a business organization with full time employees who can dedicate more time, effort & resources to the promotion, running & growth of the league. Buffalo Warriors has always been a volunteer run organization staffed by people who freely give of their time to make the league into what it is. Additionally, other challenges prompted us to make the change including decreasing enrollment, increasing costs & fiscal difficulties. Challenges which an organization like WNY Roller is more equipped to face. On top of those issues, the roller rink at Epic Center presently has limited availability on Saturdays as other sports leagues also rent the facility. We had been in discussions with WNY Roller about a union of leagues and an arrangement seemed likely. However we have just been informed that WNY Roller is going to be pursuing other business ventures in athletics and youth roller hockey in the fall and winter does not fit into their current plans. For these reasons Buffalo Warriors is going to be shutting down as a league after this session. Consequently, this session is going to look much differently. We have a some rink time credit owed us from the Epic Center that we are going to utilize by reserving the rink every Saturday in the month of October 2021 from 10am-12pm. This will be a 5 week session starting on Saturday Oct 2 and ending on Oct 30. These sessions will take the form of a casual pickup skate and different teams will be selected each week. We will do our best to make teams even and fair. (There will be no playoffs.) Players will be charged a fee of $10 to play each week and do not have to pay if they are not in attendance. All players will have to get AAU insurance in order to participate. (More information will follow regarding insurance.) The 18u division will play from 10-11am and the 14u division will follow from 11am -12 noon. Any player who did not take the refund last year but opted for a credit towards this session will not have to pay for any of the October skates. In addition any goalie who wants to play will not be charged. We would also like to take this opportunity to thank the many volunteers for their tireless service and dedication to making Buffalo Warriors Roller Hockey an incredible roller hockey league!

Refunds have been processed for the fall 2020 season. If you have not received your refund please contact us and let us know. Looking forward to a fresh start in September for the Fall 2021 season!

Dear friends of Buffalo Warriors, it is with great sadness that we have to announce the cancellation of the remainder of the fall 2020 season. Although permission has been granted by the governor as well as by the Erie County Health Department for hockey to resume in Western New York we are unable to play at the roller rink at the Epic Center as their roller hockey rink has been rented through the Spring. We have worked with the Epic Center in an effort to put together a schedule to finish the season and have considered every possible option. There are limited time slots available on the rink as it has been rented by other sports that have been designated as medium risk and that were able to play while we were shut down. We explored every possibility including playing on different days or nights of the week other than Saturday. Unfortunately we were unable to find a solution that worked for both organizations. We even looked at the 14u and 18u divisions playing on separate nights but even then we could not come up with a schedule that worked. We are disappointed that we were not able to finish this season. We apologize for this inconvenience. We will resume roller hockey in September with the Fall 2021 season. We will miss all of our players and families.

There are still many questions that need to be answered before we are able to resume playing but we are hoping to get back as soon as possible. According to the governor's latest guidelines each county's health department must sign off and allow or disallow hockey based on several covid related factors. We have yet to hear whether or not the Erie County Health Department will allow hockey to be played. We will keep you posted on all updates as soon as they become available. Thank you for your patience. The governor's full set of guidelines regarding sports and recreation can be found here (information relevant to hockey is on page 4 & 5)

Dear Buffalo Warriors friends and families, we have heard that the governor issued an executive order allowing the restart of high risk sports like roller hockey starting on February the 1st. We are tentatively scheduling the 1st game back on Saturday February 6th. We will finish the remaining 4 weeks of the fall 2020 before starting the winter 2021. More details and information to follow shortly! Players please let your coaches know whether or not you are available play. This is very exciting news and we are very happy to be able to get back to the action!

We want to wish all of our Buffalo Warrior friends a very Happy New Year! We also wanted to take this opportunity to give an update on the status of the league. As of right now we are still in shutdown mode as a result of the governor's guidelines regarding sports and recreation. We continue hoping that we will be given permission to play hockey once again and will be able to resume and finish the fall 2020 season. When we pressed pause on the season we had 2 games remaining in the regular season and 2 weeks of playoffs which would have ended with our championship week. We continue to keep our fingers crossed and hope for the best. If the shutdown remains for a considerable amount of time and we have to cancel the season then every player will get the option for a refund for the portion of the season which was missed or a credit towards the next season. We do not have a deadline right now for cancelling the season and hope it does not come to this. Thank you for your patience during this trying time. Let's stay positive and keep our hopes high that we will be able to get back to hockey and finish the season soon!
