WNYHeroes’ Adopt-A-Hero’s Family program provides Christmas assistance to Veterans, service members, and their families in need. Community sponsors help by purchasing gifts using each family’s requested items as a guide.

To apply, visit the link below and select “Adopt A Heroes Family Application.” Have your DD214, children’s birth certificates, and marriage certificate ready to upload before submitting.

Please keep gift requests to $100 per child. High-cost electronics, including gaming consoles, tablets, laptops, and phones, are not considered needs under this program. Families receiving gifts are asked to send their sponsor a thank-you card or letter.

We are incredibly grateful to Churches In Action for their incredible generosity through their “Undie Sunday” campaign! 🩲❤️

Because of the generosity of churches and individuals throughout our community, countless men coming through Build Promise, Amy’s Place of Hope will have access to something as simple, yet so essential, as new underwear, socks and personal essentials.

A huge THANK YOU to every church that participated, everyone who donated, and the Churches in Action team for bringing people together around a very practical way to care for our neighbors experiencing housing insecurities.

We are so thankful to be part of a community that continues to show up in meaningful ways.

🚒🔥 Foundation 214 is proud to support the City of Buffalo’s Fire House Open Houses! 🔥🚒

In recognition of Fire Prevention Month, families are invited to join firefighters at fire houses across Buffalo October 6–8 for free, family-friendly evenings focused on fire safety and community.

Families will have the opportunity to:
👨‍🚒 Meet local firefighters
🚒 Tour fire trucks
🏠 Learn important fire and life-safety tips
🔔 Receive a free combination smoke/CO detector for their home
🍎 Enjoy an evening together with their community

Foundation 214 is also encouraging local businesses and community partners to help make these events special. Donations of family-friendly raffle prizes, gift cards, or c***r and donuts are welcome and can make a meaningful difference.

Fire safety starts with education, preparation, and strong community connections. Foundation 214 is proud to help support an event that brings Buffalo families and their firefighters together while helping keep our community safe. ❤️

Veterans — especially those who are experiencing homelessness or facing housing instability — are invited to connect with vital services, resources and compassionate support at this year’s Buffalo VA Stand Down.

Please note: This year’s event will be held at a new location:

📍 American Legion Post #1041
533 Amherst Street, Buffalo
📅 September 25
⏰ 10 a.m.–1 p.m.

Attendees can access:

✅ VA health and benefits information
✅ Housing and employment services
✅ Legal assistance
✅ Wellness screenings
✅ Clothing and hygiene supplies
✅ Community resources
✅ Pet wellness checks
✅ A free lunch

🚌 FREE NFTA RIDES FOR VETERANS
The NFTA will provide free transportation from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Veterans should show a Veteran ID, DD214 or similar proof of military service to participate.

We are so excited to kick-off the school year with our annual Family Open House and Supply Drop-Off event!

Drop-off your school supplies before the start of the school year, meet your teachers, and dine on hot dogs, veggie dogs, chips, and a sweet treat!

Staff will be on hand to help with School Dismissal Manager and ParentSquare. EVCS merch will also be available for sale!

Supply Drop-Off is August 27, 2026 from 4 to 6 pm at both campuses. Kindergarten Orientation is from 4 to 4:30 pm OR 5:30 to 6 pm.
