This Week's Sermon: "Friend of God: Children of Promise"

In Genesis 21, we see the long-awaited birth of Isaac, the son God had promised to Abraham and Sarah. Isaac’s birth reminds us that God is faithful and that His promises are fulfilled in His timing and by His power.

But in Galatians 4:21–31, the Apostle Paul uses this story to teach a powerful gospel truth. We are not accepted by God because of our own works, effort, or religious performance. We are accepted because of Christ.

This message reminds us that the Christian life is not about living as slaves trying to earn God’s approval. Through Jesus, we are children of promise, set free by grace and called to live in the freedom of the gospel.

Our purpose is to honor and glorify God through the study of His Word, and we would be truly honored to have you with us.

The Men of Williams Valley Ministry firmly believes in the accuracy and trustworthiness of the Bible as a guide for building a personal relationship with God and finding new life in Him. We seek practical solutions to life's challenges by listening to and obeying its teachings, without resorting to gimmicks or entertainment tactics.

We foster a friendly and welcoming environment where everyone can study God's Word, honor and glorify Jesus Christ, and strive to become better men, fathers, grandfathers, brothers, and uncles. Let’s continue standing together in faith, lifting up the next generation, and praying for God to move in our schools, our families, and our community.

A Reminder: The Cross & Communion

This morning, as we gather at Twin Valley Alliance Church for worship and communion, may our hearts be drawn back to the weight and wonder of what we remember.

The Cross has been a symbol throughout the centuries. Before Christ, it was a symbol of torture, punishment, shame, and death. But after Christ, it became the symbol of the Christian faith.

Why the Cross?

Why not a stone to represent the empty grave?

Because the Cross was the bridge between two points in time. The Cross ended the old covenant and began the new covenant between God and His people. The Cross changed everything — past, present, and future.

In the Old Testament, God’s people celebrated a yearly feast called Passover. This feast remembered the night when the death angel passed through Egypt, and the homes marked by the blood of a spotless lamb were spared. That blood was a sign of God’s protection, mercy, and covenant relationship with His people.

Year after year, the people remembered what God had done.

Fast-forward many years, and we find Jesus gathered with His disciples at the Last Supper. This meal took place during the time of Passover. In fact, the Last Supper was a Passover meal.

But in that moment, Jesus revealed something greater.

“This cup that is poured out for you is the new covenant in my blood.”
— Luke 22:20

Jesus was showing His disciples that He is the true and perfect Lamb. His blood would not simply cover sin for a season. His blood would provide a new way of living and relating to God. The blood of lambs was no longer needed, because Jesus would provide a permanent cleansing from sin and protection from the judgment we deserved.

“For it is impossible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sins.”
— Hebrews 10:4

This is the beauty of communion.

We no longer celebrate Passover with a physical lamb. We come to the table and remember the perfect sacrifice of Jesus through the physical reminders of bread and cup. The bread reminds us of His body given for us. The cup reminds us of His blood poured out for us.

Communion is not just a tradition.
It is not just bread and juice.
It is a sacred moment of remembrance.

We remember the beauty of the Cross.
We remember the pain of the Cross.
We remember the provision of the Cross.

And because the sacrifice of Jesus is permanent, our remembrance should not be rare or casual. The church should never lose sight of the Cross. Communion calls us back to the center of our faith — Jesus Christ crucified, risen, and coming again.

May we come to the table today with reverence.
May we come with gratitude.
May we come with awe.

And may we never forget the price Jesus paid for our salvation.

Let’s live in the light of His sacrifice.
Let’s follow Him with joy and surrender.
And let’s never stop sharing the story of the Cross.

This morning, we continue our series, Friend of God: Learning Faith from Abraham, as we come to the birth of Isaac in Genesis 21.

Isaac’s birth was more than the arrival of a long-awaited son. It was the fulfillment of God’s promise. Years later, the Apostle Paul would use this story in Galatians 4 to point us to an even greater truth: we cannot earn God’s approval by our own works, effort, or religious performance.

Through Jesus Christ, we are not slaves trying to earn our place in God’s family. We are children of promise, set free by grace and called to live in the freedom He has given us.

“So, brothers, we are not children of the slave but of the free woman.”
— Galatians 4:31

Join us as we look at Genesis 21 and Galatians 4:21–31 and celebrate the freedom we have in Christ.

This Week's Sermon: "The Privilege of Prayer"

This message reminds us why prayer matters, why it is right to come before God, and why, through Jesus, we can come boldly to Him. Ordinary people are invited to come before an extraordinary God who hears, cares, and responds.

We hope this sermon blesses and encourages you today.

However, we will be sharing a message from the Twin Valley Alliance Church Sermon Archive entitled: The Privilege of Prayer This message reminds us why p...
