14th Annual Wreaths of Remembrance

Gloucester County has without a doubt one of the most beautiful veteran's cemeteries in the country and one we can all be proud of. For fourteen years Gloucester County veterans and volunteers have come together to raise funds to purchase and lay wreaths on the gravesites of veterans and their spouses buried at the Gloucester County Veterans Memorial Cemetery as a gesture of honor and remembrance. We continue the tradition again this year of honoring our veterans at a special ceremony starting at 10:00AM on Saturday, December 2nd, 2023 at the cemetery in Monroe Township, followed by performing individual graveside ceremonies and the laying of over 3600 wreaths covering all the gravesites there.

To do this, however, we need your help. We are seeking donations to purchase the wreaths as well as volunteers to help us lay them at the gravesites on December 2nd after the 10:00AM dedication ceremony. We have made the commitment of laying over 3600 wreaths this year, the number of gravesites currently at the cemetery.

People for People Foundation, The Veterans Advisory Committee, Lore and Rich Gess, and the Rotary Club of Glassboro are spearheading this effort to raise the funds needed to purchase the wreaths, and to lay the wreaths at the cemetery. We invite you to join us in honoring the memory of every veteran and spouse who is interred there.

Important information about Wreaths of Remembrance:
1. Wreaths with ribbons can be sponsored at $10.50 each. You may sponsor as many wreaths as you like, or you may donate any amount you would like.
2. Families of interred veterans are invited to a private gathering and wreath laying at 9:00AM for their interred family member(s). There will be hot chocolate and donuts courtesy of the Glassboro VFW Post 679 available to all attendees.
3. Memorial Ceremony will start promptly at 10:00AM.
4. Volunteers will gather at 9:45AM. Individual graveside ceremonies and wreath laying by volunteers will follow after the memorial ceremony for all gravesites not adorned with a Wreath of Remembrance.

PLEASE NOTE:
All volunteers* and family members are required to proceed to Williamstown Middle School located one mile from the cemetery at 700 Tuckahoe Road, Williamstown, NJ 08094. Once there you will be directed to available parking. There will be multiple buses to take you from the middle school to the cemetery and back. Shuttles will begin running at 7:45AM. Private family wreath-laying members are suggested to arrive no later than 8:30AM and volunteers no later than 9:15AM. There will be one shuttle bus from Williamstown Middle School that is handicap accessible.

*If you are organizing groups such as Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, etc. or any other organizations, please have your group meet at the middle school and ride the shuttle bus in a group.

Only vehicles that display a handicap license plate or handicap window display will be allowed to park on the cemetery grounds until we reach capacity. This is necessary due to the limited parking available at the cemetery. After reaching handicap parking capacity, all handicap parking will then be at the middle school. There will be a handicap bus available to board there.
