Good morning,

Mr Todd Comer has reached out to all of us about a Call for submissions for "Appalachian Glass: Furnace of Meaning and Memory, a proposed edited collection about Appalachian glass and the cultures that have gathered around it."

In his words: This project begins with a simple premise: glass is never only glass. It is labor, inheritance, display, class aspiration, family ritual, loss, beauty, regional memory, and sometimes obsession. It sits in cabinets, windows, kitchens, churches, museums, antique malls, flea markets, and family stories. It catches light. It carries feeling.

There is a rich history in glassmaking. There is also alot of family traditions as well, from the families that worked in the factories, to the families that collect these hand made, work of art pieces. If you wish to contribute stories or histories, please consider checking out the following:

The hand painted pitcher in this child's or "toy" set is 5.5" tall. Fenton green, ca. 1910-1920

Mystery color sample: this spittoon shaped piece with Coin Dot motif is about 4.5" in diameter, but we have not been able to identify the glass color for sure. We believe that the basic batch was Burmese with an added ingredient to create the green hue. Label indicates this piece was made on 3/26/63.

Good morning everyone,

It has been a while since we've posted an update. After a little time off for the holidays, we had our first meeting of the year and hit the ground running. Lights have been installed in the cases, and the cases have been seated. Our graphic designer and Graphik Masters have been hard art work. Some of the graphics have also been installed. This will take a few trips from their facility in Pennsylvania.

We still have a list of items we are working on. This has been quite an endeavor, and honestly a labor of love for all of us. We have also added a few more case sponsors. The Sexton MetalCraft, Inc., was a Missouri based business specializing in cast aluminum wall decor. They had their own foundry, paint booths, and warehouse area. They closed in 2003

This piece was done by Fenton for their Showcase dealers. Dated 1970 on the back.

One will be featured on each case, along with all relevant graphics depicting photos, information, and stories. Now is your chance to be part of the museum! To sponsor showcase graphics, $1000 is what it takes. Have your name(s) added to the showcase as a graphics sponsor.
