🌟 Staff Highlight: Meet Robin! 🌟
For Robin, working at American Rescue Workers is more than a job—it’s a calling.
Robin first joined ARW in January 2019 at Saving Grace Shelter, helping individuals through some of the most difficult moments of their lives. She later transitioned to the Social Service Center as an Administrative Assistant, and today, she serves as our Social Service Center Coordinator, overseeing all day-to-day operations, helping meet some of our community’s most urgent needs.
From coordinating our food pantry and financial assistance to ordering food and welcoming each person who walks through the door, Robin seems to have a hand in just about everything.
Basically, if it happens at the Social Service Center, there’s a pretty good chance she’s involved in it! 😂
And that’s no exaggeration. Robin is a HARD worker and truly the backbone of our Social Service Center. There is an incredible amount of work happening behind the scenes every single day to make sure our neighbors have food, assistance, and someone to turn to—and Robin carries so much of that responsibility. Her dedication to this community is something we see every single day.
But for Robin, the work has never been about checking boxes or completing tasks. It’s about people.
Her favorite part of the job is seeing the relief on someone’s face when they realize they’ll have food to take home to their family. She especially loves seeing the children who visit the Social Service Center—many of whom know that “Miss Robin” just might have a snack or special treat waiting for them.
And if you’ve ever stepped into Robin’s office, you’ve probably noticed something else: her Hello Kitty collection! 🎀
What you might not realize is that many of those Hello Kitty items were given to Robin by members of the community. Over the years, the people she has helped have brought her gifts to show their appreciation. Her collection has become more than just something fun decorating her office—it’s a reminder of the relationships she has built and the lives she has touched.
Robin gives so much to the people who come through our doors, and sometimes, they find their own special ways to show her just how much her kindness has meant to them. ❤️
One recent experience with the mobile food pantry reminded her just how meaningful those small acts of kindness can be. While serving a family staying at the Econo Lodge, one of the young girls greeted Robin with a hug—and then another. When Robin returned the following week, the little girl came running out, calling, “Oh, Miss Robin!”
Her father told Robin that the children had been talking about her all week.
“Knowing that something so small meant so much to those children completely melted my heart,” Robin says. “Those are the moments that remind me why I do what I do.”
That compassion is at the heart of what the mission of American Rescue Workers means to her.
“To me, the mission of American Rescue Workers is godly. It’s about love, compassion, dignity, and serving others.”
More than anything, Robin wants the community to understand the impact happening every day at American Rescue Workers. A box of food, help with a bill, a listening ear, a smile, or simply treating someone with kindness can mean more than we realize.
“We aren’t just handing someone a box of food. Sometimes what someone needs most isn’t just food or financial assistance. They need someone to listen. They need someone to treat them with kindness. They need to know that somebody cares. That’s what we do.”
When asked to sum up what American Rescue Workers means to her, Robin says it best:
“American Rescue Workers is more than a job to me—it is a calling to love people, serve my community, and be there for someone when they need a helping hand the most.”
❤️ Thank you, Robin, for the countless hours of hard work, the compassion you show our neighbors, and the joy you bring to the Social Service Center. So much of what happens here wouldn’t be possible without you. We’re incredibly grateful to have you as part of the ARW family!
