“Every step is meaningful.”
This morning I joined countless others to run the ThinkBig Pediatric Cancer Fund Trail Challenge 5K/10K.
What a wonderful morning on the trail. I’ve been struggling with pain in my right hip and it was acting up on the course today. It was a tough trail run, steep at the beginning, rocks and roots in the middle, and downhill at the end.
As I slogged along, I thought about the words shared at the start of the race: “Every step is meaningful.” When I looked at the race from this lens, everything changed. I thought of how powerful those words must feel through the eyes of the person who spoke them, having experienced the worst and the best that life has to offer. He then led us in prayer before the race start, the purpose of the race not lost on any of us.
That’s the thing about cancer…it provides the worst experiences life can offer but intertwines them within moments of pure love & grace. These moments are sewn into our souls for eternity. We walk into cancer with fear and uncertainty and, no matter the outcome, we walk out a forever changed, with a deeper understanding of what truly matters and trusting in God to bring us back to our loved ones in His time in His eternity.
Today was a good day. I was proud to be a part of it. No matter what my time was, every step was meaningful. ♥️
